Yes, I had with a guy I dated sometime ago. We have all the "chase and attraction" aspects in synastry, but our composite was awful. Neptune in the first with Uranus. Saturn aspecting almost all personal planets (heavy, very heavy to cope with...) and for me the most horror placement: Moon in the 12th. He lied to me a lot about his feelings, as I was all heart open to him. I hope to find a guy that I can have a family one day... IP: Logged |

Both synastry and composite shows different things, but when it comes to showing the potentials of the relationship, I'd say composite is the one to look at. But they don't really overrule one another, both still shows what can be there - synastry = compatibility between the couple, composite = relationship potentials.IP: Logged |

I want to add the importance of tight conjunctions of each partner`s natal to the composite chart. It shows how attached they are (or how affected) to the relationship. http://sasstrology.com/2013/01/when-synastry-and-composite-charts-dont-agree.html (I actualy don´t think composites disagree with synastries; they just might bring connections to the surface that were easy to overlook in the synastry chart; but the ingredients are already there; becomes more obvious even in the comparision of the natals, which should always be the starting point.)

Thanks for the article Ceri. From my experiences, I tend to agree with these points: quote: The composite chart is the combined energies between two people. It describes the relationship itself, and is most appropriate to analyze once a relationship has actually gotten off the ground. The composite chart describes the relationship’s potential for longevity (or not)..... When you are looking at the fate of a relationship, the composite chart is the deciding factor. Remember this, and you’ll understand the importance of the composite chart.

I always look at the composite to see if the relationship has lasting qualities. Focus on the 2nd house of survival, using equal house system. Planets there will tell you what ensures your survival together.
