But that reminds me, lots of guys like women who can kick butt...at least in the movies. I recall back when Serenity played and several men were saying on some blog or movie review or whatever that they wanted to marry River after seeing her slaughter a bunch of reavers in bloody melee. I'll agree that was awesome but I don't think I'd want to get intimate with someone so insane (and often a space case).

Speaking of Firefly/Serenity, Zoe had her male fans, too (though Kaylee and I think even River had more). Just curious, what do you think of how she looks?

And we love them for all the right reason . In the case of someone like River Tam, its even more unexpected since she falls under the good old TV Trope of "Waif-Fu."

While the trope clearly lacks any real life pragmatic cohesion to it (even with the right martial arts, its kinda hard to bring a big guy down in an actual brawl,) it does lends itself to the curious idea of having an "iron fist behind a velvet glove" at your side .

Personally though, I am not a fan of River Tam for reasons you stated; She is as the Japanese would say, a Yandere:

I actually liked her character way more than River for obvious reasons. She is a bad ass woman and looks the part as well. The outfit she wears isn't exactly Tactical but then again Captain Malcolm Reynolds doesn't really looks like he is dressed for combat either Lol!
