Is it fated? Does it matter that it's during a retrograde? I'm referring specifically to last year's retro during July - Aug 2012. Thanks!IP: Logged |

I am not sure. Some people say it's a karmic encounter or at least quite signficant because it can show you some things about yourself (but then again, doesn't every encounter show us something about ourselves?). It doesn't always promote stability or longevity, however... But I wouldn't be too worried about it. I think Venus retrograde is much worse, when it comes to meeting new people.

I agree re: Venus retrograde. The easiest example of the meaning of meeting someone during Mercury retrograde is "unfinished business" from a prior relationship that you are going to work out via Mercury issues with the new person. I think that during Mercury retrogrades you tend to learn about what wasn't communicated during the period of time shortly before Mercury went retrograde. For example, during Mercury retrograde you could see a dating relationship fizzle quickly because before the retrograde they met someone else but didn't tell you. If you buy a gadget during Mercury retrograde you could find out it has bugs that weren't being publicized before. Mercury is a quick planet and always focuses on the main idea and in doing so can leave important information out. I think that when Mercury goes retrograde we see him clearing things up a bit. Thanks. Some people talk about Mercury retrograde like Mercury just acts up and starts creating havoc but I don't think that's true at all. It's also important to recognize Mercury isn't the deepest planet ever so new relationships formed during Mercury retrograde will likely just involve changes in surface level communications or at most changes in what you're willing to agree to do with someone. I would look to other aspects at the time of meeting someone for indications regarding the potential the relationship has long-term or serious, fundamental problems or solutions. If Mercury retro brings problems they won't be ones you usually have to dig super deep to find out or fix. The worst example of Mercury retro (possibly in hard aspect to Saturn or maybe Neptune) would be finding out someone tricked you in the marketplace and you got the short end of the stick regarding something you purchased or a business decision. Venus or Pluto retro are the two I've noticed as bringing the most noticeable weirdness with them. IP: Logged |

I wouldn't associate Mercury retrograde with new love or relationships. Perhaps with old relationships such as a old ex popping up or reconnecting with friends you have spoken to in a while. New romance seems as if there could be some miss understandings about who that person really is. But hey who knows maybe your personal progressions and transits can overpower it. Just don't sign any marriage contracts or any contracts with them.IP: Logged |

If you met during merc Rx over a year ago and are still together, I wouldn't say it had much of an impact... If "technically speaking" if it would of, the relationship would have changed once mercury went direct... IP: Logged |

You'll probably learn something about this person you didn't know before when mercury goes direct. Mercury puts a veil over your eyes, you can't see everything. It's not necessarily bad or heavy like others have said, but it doesn't make things flow. It might be a little bump in the road. Meeting someone new under the retrograde - don't get your hopes up or set your heart/mind on it, because it might change when mercury goes direct. No major decisions that would change your life... Just take it easy, take it lightly. IP: Logged |
