I don't like a lot off mainstream stuff but I like some and Gaga didn't start of mainstream, far from it. She was pretty much a nobody from NYC although her parents have money but through her own grit and determination, she is now one of the biggest stars ever. She was able to build her empire and I admire her for it. WTG GAGA! And she wasn't even one of the popular kids or anything, kinda nerdy and she was bullied. Some of the most palpable material is what the artist does before they become popular, true! Whether it is more meaningful, couldn't say. Nothing has much meaning to me, anyway. It's just something to do while inhabiting the planet in human form but will it matter 1000 years from now? Probably not. Except Gaga will probably be known then. But who knows, people could lose interest then she would fade into obscurity. I have no idea why some people last and others don't. Who knows how many famous people in antiquity are totally nameless, faceless entities now...
