Must have a good grasp of traditional astrology. This can be gained in the modern world through a good grasp of horary. Even if you choose not to believe it and practice it, it gives you the background to understand how modern astrology works and it also can show you the "faults" of modern astrology. It's a much more structured discipline.
Any opinions on this?
Does anyone else want to add any other tips on how to be a good astrologer.

Of course yes. I think in any kind of job you should know traditional methods, or anything that is no longer in use. Like doing some research. But doing research for yourself, your curiosity, not like swotting up maths theory.
Imo if you don't do that, then you really are not interested in the hobby.
