Over the last several years I have taken notice that upon meeting people and even with people I have known for a while, it is difficult to engage in conversation with some and others I can talk to them like we are best friends. I started looking at the charts of all the people I have a hard time talking to and I noticed that they have their Mercury squared mine or quincunx. Then I notice those that I am able to talk to but I need some time to open up to, their Mercury is either opposite or sextile mine. Those that I can talk to like we are best friends have their Mercury trine or conjunct mine.
This would seem like a duh but then I started looking at all of their sun moon and ascendant signs. Even those with the same sun moon and ascendant as me or in reversed order but had a hard aspect to my Mercury I was unable to communicate with.
I notice those that have a hard aspected Mercury to mine, I can very uncomfortable and nervous around them.
I can literally feel someone's Mercury sign.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Unfortunately that's not the case with me. One of my best friends has mercury in aries and it does not make any aspect to my mercury which is in taurus and I can talk to her about anythingggg. Very funny, joyful conversations. No silent moments whatsoever.

One person I have known for a long time has their Mercury conjunct my Mercury and we do not understand one another.

When I look at this person's 3rd House rulers, which is Saturn/Uranus, they are conjunct in their natal and inconjunct to my 3rd House ruler Mercury using synastry. Which explains why we will often misunderstand what the other is trying to say.

I think you have to look at the person's 3rd House ruler to understand how your lower mind or day to day conversations will go.

My two recent examples would be one friend I just recently met has their Sun, Moon and Ascendant in the same signs as mine just mixed up. She is Taurus sun, Pisces moon, and Cancer ascendant. I am Cancer sun, Taurus moon and Pisces ascendant. She makes me extremely nervous to talk to her. She has an Aries mercury, I have a Cancer mercury. Another friend I recently met has a Sagittarius sun, Taurus moon, Pisces ascendant and a Scorpio mercury. I have only known her for two days but I feel like I could talk with her for hours and she feels the same.

Do your moons conjunct? That always makes me feel at ease.

I have a Gemini Venus so I can usually talk a lot with others with Gemini personal placements.

Yeah I definitely feel Mercury and I see it in people's eyes - not just their communication style.

It's a great lesson to learn in life: that you can't communicate with all people equally. It helps you feel a little less frustrated with people whose communication is just irritating. It also eases the pressure of trying so hard to communicate with certain people. It's probably one of my favorite things I've ever learned, because I'm not necessarily inclined to talk to everyone anyway, and this kind of provides a justification for not worrying about it too much. Conversely, I do still hold the philosophy that my communication style needs to continue to mature to become more accommodating for other styles.

I agree, it is easier than guessing their Moon sign. Ive noticed that those with squares to my Mercury (mine is Cancer) I try to talk to them but I just freeze up and get nervous like they are going to go off on me. That's when I am like they probably have a Mercury that squares mine. LOL

Yeah I notice others communicating style which is related to their Mercury?

Though I don't have a hard time communicating with anyone because my mercury is extremely dignified.
I'm often the one clearing up misunderstandings for others lol. It's easy for me to get the gist of the most vague and obscure comment.

idk my mercury is my chart ruler and is domicile in the first house so basically I'm like an accurate version google language lol

It's inconjunct Saturn at 3°

Biquintile my Neptune/MC conjunction 1°

It's contraparallel my Moon, Neptune, Saturn and Uranus.
