I have a house cusp that is 9.36 of a sign and a planet that is at 9.22 of that sign, sitting extremely close.

I've been researching and there's been mixed results.
What are your opinions on how to interpret this?

My understanding is to look at both. I will either relate to one or the other, or both.

My situation is similar. I can relate to both descriptions.

Apparently it's effect is felt powerfully in the next house as it is conjuncting the cusp of that house.

quote:
House cusps and orbs

In Christian Astrology (pages 33 and 151) Lilly refers to a 5° orb of influence that precedes the cusps of the houses. Most authors allowed this orb because the cusp is the most powerful point of the house’s influence and any planet positioned close to a cusp strongly highlights the affairs of that house. Hence, if the 2nd house cusp falls at 21° Cancer, a planet at 18° Cancer is considered to have its influence upon the affairs of the 2nd house and not the first, even though it is technically positioned within the 1st house division. You will often come across authors talking about such a planet being ‘in’ the 2nd house, which proves confusing to beginners. What they mean to say is that it is conjunct the 2nd house cusp, falling within 5° of it, and therefore showing its influence upon the affairs of that house.
In the chart below, the part of fortune (often referred to as 'fortuna' and depicted by the symbol part of fortune) is within 5° of the 11th house cusp and therefore considered relevant to the 11th house and not the 10th. Saturn, which is 5°23' away from the 10th house cusp, is outside the 5° orb and therefore considered relevant to the 9th house.

I agree with that.

What planet is it and which house cusp is it sitting near, may I ask?

Great question. I learn something new everyday.

I have Neptune at 0.5 degrees in Scorpion in the first house.

Does that really mean it's actually considered Sag and in the second house?

Saturn at the end of 10 and Jupiter at the end of 8. Jupiter is a couple degrees away but Saturn is very close.

My Moon conjuncts the 3rd house cusp and Uranus the 5th house cusp. Maybe they ifluence these houses somehow but they definitely belong to their houses.

So, Saturn conjuncts the cusp of eleven, Jupiter the cusp of nine? It strengthens the cusp it's near. The end of one house is the beginning of another.

Does that meant the house becomes stronger?

Yep! Saturn 10/11 and Jupiter 8/9 which 11 and 9 are their natural homes? Yes?

It would strengthen Jupiter and Saturn. Are the matters of houses nine and eleven prominent in your life?
What are your sun/moon/ascendant?

9 definitely is. Not sure about 11.

I'm going to stay secretive about some of my placements, if possible.

Okay, that's fine. Maybe you don't notice eleven as much because Saturn's there?

Good. I think in these Astrology communities if you reveal your signs (at least soon) then people have expectations. I like to start clean. Even if starting a relationship. I'll wait until later to look after I'm already interested. Otherwise it's like, "Ohhhhhhhh man. Aquarius? I'll Pass." (Not to mean that I actually dislike Aquarius)

I was thinking the same about Saturn though. Being the nature of the planet and the house. 11th is social? Is that right?
So would this tend to make one a loner? A few tight friends?
That would describe me very much.

I may have an opportunity to travel to Austria/Germany/Ireland via work soon. We'll see.

Most likely though. Reading about Jupiter in 9th sounds like that applies.

Haha, yeah, I get that. I should have waited, too. Smart move!

Jupiter in eleven brings a lot of friends and some amount of fortune through them. Saturn there can mean feeling a bit more alone but having a serious streak.

anonymi

I take both houses into account - orb can be pretty wide, 6°-7° even, and even more for axes.

I approve of this post.

And yeah, Saturn in the 11th tends to play out that way. I have it.

6-7 degree orb? and here I was thinking that 5 degree orb is too wide. It’s unfair, don’t you think so? dealing with one house is difficult already.

I have moon at Taurus 12.11 and DSC at Taurus 12.31. I think I either get emotional security from work or love relationships. On the downside, it feels harder to have healthy relationships with both. But that might just be my moon sq MC

I have moon at Scorpio 9.50 and ASC at 12.31
This one is harder to distinguish for me since it's not a personal planet but I do think I'm a "Pluto riser"

Yes, it may seem wide, anonymi, but in my experience wider orbs work - especially in natal.

I would keep it at 5°-6° for "regular" houses though, unless there's a conjunction of two planets near the cusp, and one of them is closer to the cusp than the other - in that case, I think even the second planet can be (mildly) felt in the next house (the first planet acts like a "bridge" between the two houses).

For angular houses 8°-9° tops.

I have my saturn at 27º13 on the 11/12 cusp. My 12th house starts at 27º14. Saturn is also conj. Uranus at 27º55. This conjunction is also the apex of a yod with sun and jupiter.

So I have been trying to decide definatively which house saturn is in. This thread is really useful. If you have a planet conj. another planet on the cusp does that make a difference?

My astro-life just got a lot more complicated -_- , most of my planets are around the end of angular houses.

Do you mean 8-9 degree before angular houses or do you mean 8-9 degree around the end of angular houses?

EDIT: Nvm, I understood.
