One of my close pals has this placement, seems tuned in to the undercurrents, interested in occult, taboo, sex etc ..

Anyone got anything on this in their vast banks of knowledge?

8th housers are interesting people.. they can be very extreme.
Which is understandable 8th housers have seen some intense things.
For example death is common occurrence in their life.
my s.o has moon in the 8th along with mars, witnessed really messed up things.. I'd say most of them are pretty scaring.
8th housers are equipped to deal with such trauma.

They could make good forensic analysts, gruesome crimes scenes shouldn't bother them.

As for interest in sex and other taboo things, that's pretty vague because we see such images in the media. I don't associate these things with the 8th house only. Actually most of the ones I know aren't very vulgar they are so comfortable with taboo things that it does not seem to interest them in conversations, most of them nonchantly do "taboo" things everyday

Interesting. What do you think it would feel like to have an eight house Moon? Would you say it shares much similarity to a Scorpio Moon?
I'm imagining intensity & the hidden are all natural to natives with this ..
The person i know with it has an unreal amount of tattoo's, spiderwebs on his wrists etc

I have an eighth house moon. It brings a Scorpionic/Plutonic, somewhat Martian vibe to the moon which goes with my genetics. My mother has moon conjunct Mars.

No not exactly, scorpio moons are kinda snappy compared to 8th housers, but it depends what signs the moon is in, if it's in aries or gemini they can be pretty feisty.

My mom and two of my good friends have scorpio moons, they are not as private as 8th housers.
Scorpio moons tend to say or do things to shock people.

I do think it brings depth.
If you have pisces or cancer moon in the 8th house.. watch out..

I have Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and North Node in 8th!! One massive stellium!

I haven't witnessed much death in my life. I don't get shocked by much when it comes to death, sex and taboo things and just accept that these things exist.

8th house also rules other people's money and taxes.....I am a tax advisor so that makes sense to me.

I'm quite an analyser and like to delve right into people's minds to see what makes them tick....needless to say there are a few people who feel uncomfortable around me because they think I can see directly into their soul! Others are quite intrigued by me because I can read them so well. The people I can't read that well are usually the people I am magnetically drawn to because they intrigue the hell out of me!!

I bet it does, haha.

My moon is conjunct Neptune & Uranus in the 2nd house,Capricorn, so i don't have much experience of the emotional side with taboo areas.

But my Pluto is conjunct Mercury, Jupiter & Ascendant which more than makes up for it.

as for your friend it really depends where his 8th house ruler is.

If it conjuncts his ascendant or mc he may be controversial character and prefers to cultivate that type of appearance with spider tattoos ect.

My 8th house ruler conjunct MC I just attract controversy around me..I can't help it.

oh and because I can read people so well, I usually know how situations are going to end before the person does.

Plutofish....I agree an 8th house moon is intense and quite dark. My emotions are very deep and my husband says that sometimes it scares him where my mind goes. neeedless to say, I can totally relate to the appeal of the creepy tattoos, and anything that seems other worldly for that matter!

I think 8th house moon isn't always accepting that something is as it seems on the surface....there has to be a deeper darker reason behind something happening and we revel in analysing and dissecting other possibilities (which are usually dark and disturbing but feel totally logical to us!!)

I think it would be the Grand trine between Sun/VenusMercury 3rd (Capricorn), Moon 8th(taurus) & Pluto 11th (Virgo) with Jupiter Scorpio in the 1st which is for the tattoo's.
North node & Mars in Pisces 5th which gives a massive amount of creativity, towards the art maybe

So his 8th house ruler conjuncts his sun and mercury,

This is probably why he needs to express his 8th hour qualities in the 3rd house too..

interesting his tattoos are on his wrists 3rd hour rules arms and hands.

my s.o 8th house ruler moon is in the 8th house and conjuncts mars this probably amplifies 8th house qualities, negative and positive...

8th house moon/venus/sn here. I'm not that into taboo things, but for the most part, I try not to judge.

8th house moon-uranus-jupiter.
they're all in aqua.

i'm quite moody, honestly. i need private time to myself or else i'll snap.
my mom was really moody too, and we have a volatile relationship but we're there for each other when we really need it.
i've read that 8th house moon either has an excellent relationship with the mom or the exact opposite.

love psychology, love freud, jung, and astrology.

i actually despise death scenes-i'm very sensitive to them. i become strongly affected, but i'm drawn to them anyways.

Virgolotus just posted a link on another thread to a site I've never been to before. The reading for 8th house moons was excellent. This is the part I resonate with the most:

quote:
Extremely sensitive to the unspoken communication, fhese people experience other people on a feeling level. They assess people quickly and accurately with their feelings and these feelings cannot be translated into words. This is emotional weight that is carried around by the eighth-house moon because it is felt and not expressed. It becomes burdensome. Peace is found when they let go of these feelings and they let go of their expectations in relationships. In the eighth house, the moon needs to satisfy it's need to care for another person without expecting anything in return. Satisfying the moon's need to probe and understand can be shifted to worldly issues like politics, psychology or astrology which helps to shift the focus away from the self, and therefore, freeing the eighth-house moon.

Link

Maybe others here can relate.

My mom has her Scorpio Sun and Moon in 8H. She has a BAD temper, is a militant nazi control freak and drinks more than an elephant. Unforunately she is 98% right all the time but I wish she'd work on her "delivery"...

She also never lies and she hates people that do.

Oh, sun and moon are sq Pluto in Leo too so there's fire in her veins :-/

I dont know if I'm into taboo things. Things that are normal to me aren't so normal to others, so I guess I am.
When I share my thoughts on something I usually get a shocked, "SARAH!", so I guess I see things differently.

I have found people will share their darkest rights with me because I am so no-judgemental about them, usually because these are my normal thoughts or I've thought about it.

Someone close to me just shot themselves and when my sister and I were discussing it she kept saying, "I don't know maybe im not suppose to talk about it this early" or "I don't know, maybe i should not say things about it"
Her thoughts were COMPLETELY normal to me. Things I think about on a day to day. I encouraged her that it's okay to think and say things like that... They are your thoughts and feelings someone else forced on you.

I hate how society makes it out that tout aren't allowed to think or speak about death.
I'm over here googling, watching YouTube, etc.
It's just fascinating to me.

Luckily the SO is just silent and takes everything I say with a non-judgemental attitude. Sometimes I feel like I'd send most running for the hills with my thoughts.

I can read people very well too.
Well, I have trouble reading their thoughts towards me. Those are blocked to me.
What I mean is I can see why they are the way they are. Their mannerisms, the way they react, why they are the way they are. I can see the "show mask" and then I can see the man behind the mask.
Their insecurities speak to me.
People either like me for this and feel comfortable that I don't judge them in it or they shy away.

The relationship with my mother, ehhh.
I was a daddys girl.
My mother brought a lot of emotional termoil to my life.
Her mind was poisoned by alcohol and we didn't hold the same interests.
Her and my sister were two peas in a pod. Later in life, while I loved my mother, I always seemed to avoid her. When I was in her presence it felt like I was holding my breath the whole time.

Her case was weird to me. I could see the insecurities, but only to a point. She was an endless onion to me. Always has some new layers.
I loved her no doubt. She was an amazing mother sober, but it was a confusing relationship for me as a child.
How could someone love me so much and encourage me to do the impossible, then go jeckle/Hyde on me and tear me down.

Her death was one that sent me into dark places for years.
No one wanted to talk about it and I didn't want to share with the SO for whatever reason.

Really, I don't think I'd trade my 8th house moon.
The only thing that scares me is the fact astrology says the mind can become unstable as time goes on. Mental illnesses and such, but I wonder if it's because of the whole taboo, people think you are crazy

I have Moon in 8H in my relocation chart. I think the description fits, although my natal position is still strong (5H). I also have Moon/Pluto natally and a bunch of Scorpio so obviously it's all interconnected. But the part about expecting too much and centering my life around a potential mate rings true, and the mother part as well. Good stuff.

lol, my mom is very similar, I called her Hitler few days ago. She has Virgo Moon conjunct Pluto, Leo Sun.

I have 8H Moon(in Gemini) too. I crave constant inner change. Going through changes is kind of normal to me. Ruler of Moon and 8H conjuncts Sun, Saturn and Venus in my chart. Death, taboos and psychology fascinate me. I can read people very well, I can feel their emotions. It's like, I go into a room and then I tap into the overall vibe of the people who are in that room. Then I just focus on the individuals and assess their individual vibes. It happens on it's own.

I can resonate with these descriptions(albeit they're vedic).

quote:
River’s Moon was occupying the eighth house and this manifested as that inexhaustible intensity that marked his life pattern. This Moon position is considered quite condemned in classic Vedic texts. Not only is it weakened in this “dusthama” house but it is also alone here without any other supporting planets or aspects to strengthen this impressionable Moon. The Moon governs the mind and the physical body, this is why the Moon is also seen as the second ascendant. The lord of his Moon being Venus weakens its position even more since Venus is debilitated in the 12th house.

The 8th house can make a person susceptible to depression, mood swings, psychological imbalances, and physical illnesses as it generally weakens the constitution. On the more positive side, River’s Moon in Taurus was also exalted and therefore it made him much more resilient. In classic texts, the Moon in the 8th house signifies a short life and the 8th house in itself is a powerful indicator for accidents. It is said that when the Moon is afflicted, receives no beneficial aspects and is found in the 8th house, which was River’s case, the lifespan is shortened. Although he had an exalted Moon that alone could not circumvent his karmic patterns, but only serve to strengthen his resilience. With the Moon in the eighth house, it is said that “the circumstances of death are highly emotional, and attachment to those left behind remains strong. The native will be long cherished by their loved ones.

quote:
When Chandra occupies Bhava-8, the most difficult house emotionally becomes 6th-from-8th = Tanu bhava = physical body, social personality, fleshly appearance.

Bhava-1 may become the site of affective difficulties due to disagreements within one's own body and regarding one's social personality. The native is rarely comfortable (Chandra) in one's own body, and emotionally-based disease conditions which manifest in the flesh body may be difficult to understand because of their "secret" psycho-emotional causes rooted in Chandra-8.

During its Vimshottari periods, the lagnesha may produce conditions of emotional servitude.

The physical appearance = a particular source of that problem of disappointment, frustration with inferior results, or exploitative overwork. the native is often ill, due to an emotionally adversarial relationship to one's own body.

Often a ragged appearance, with the bedraggled or unbalanced appearance expressing the internal conflicts. Can be corrected by nice graha in the lagna.

@anonymydarkness,

I'm happy I've made it to 38. Perhaps I will have some longevity "luck," because my moon rules my 12th house, where Saturn is.

I can relate to that part you quoted, about the pain of leaving loved ones behind. Death doesn't scare me, what scares me is the thought of my children losing their mother.

@fairaqua

Me, too...I don't care what people are talking about, no matter how morbid or strange, I can follow them. It's been common for me to meet a person for the first time and have them tell me about deaths, secret pains, surgical history, etc. When you are open to hearing that kind of stuff, those stories seem to find you.

@Doux

Thanks for the recommendation ~ yup, that does fit.

8th house cap moon

my emotions and intuitions run deep...sometimes so deep they seem inaccessible. especially to others.

i have been prone to bouts of depression, but i do feel like the saturnine qualities help me step up and take responsibility instead of dwelling in murk.

i am attracted to occult knowledge. astrology. earth magic. conspiracy theories. i want to know all the mysteries.

in relationships i am very emotionally independent.
