Could anything else balance that? Venus, maybe? Or no? What would balance a semi-square? IP: Logged |

Yes, these are "easy oppositions." If you have an opposition between two bodies in your chart and one sextiles and the other trines a third planet, it is supposed to make it easier to deal with the opposition through house, sign and planet that trines and sextiles the opposition. IP: Logged |

For a semi-square maybe a semi-sextile?Also if someone has a grand cross or a t-square a single grand trine can balance everything. So they still get all the exciting energy with some stability. IP: Logged |

In a way, yes, but each aspect is an interaction between two or more planets that has a specific vibrational dynamic. The better term would be that such 'soft' or smooth aspects help counterbalance the charge of angular aspects. They all work in concert. In fact, you can look at some aspects and see how at least one of the planets is involved in another aspect with another planet. It is my view that many aspects actually work with three or more points in larger configurations. So rather than seeing two planets at the ends of an opposition, see how one end or both actually joins up with other planets to create at least a triangle of three planets. In this way, many planets participate in configurations that resolve the more dissonant or harder charges into smoother ones. We just have to tap into them with our consciousness and personal development. IP: Logged |

i have gemini venus opposite uranus. now, i'm actually not a total player. i can be a little fickle but i'm a lot more sensible. i can actually idealize which is more of the problem (venus/neptune) but anyways! an astrologer once told me my venus opposite uranus is mitigated by my venus opposite saturn. (saturn and uranus are one degree away in my chart) i also have gemini venus in the taurus duad. so that gives some more steadiness. it seems like a lot of my placements have duads that tone them down. like aries mars in cancer duad and leo sun in capricorn duad. every planet in my chart is afflicted except jupiter which is unaspected. and every planet besides venus makes a trine or sextile to another planet or angle. poor venus

I have mercury square jupiter and saturn… I think I have both traits, sometimes I can't concentrate for more than 5 seconds, and it's impossible to do my homework or learn anything new, because I lack the mental motivation BUT… I'm still on my 3rd year at the university and I didn't complete these 2,5 years for nothing, passed all my subjects and even got some good grades too…I think my mercury square saturn makes me stubborn enough to complete advanced mental tasks just because of pure "will-power"
By the way - does anyone know about what aspect cancels out a Moon square Uranus? And venus/saturn?

Hmm.. Sun - Saturn? I thought Saturn would mitigate Uranus since it's an earth planet and used to rule Aquarius, but the Sun is opposite of Uranus AND the Moon too… so perhaps Sun in Leo would cancel Moon square Uranus, but that's just a theory. Venus Saturn… Moon/Mars or vice versa. IP: Logged |

I have Venus square Saturn which is supposed to be quite difficult. But in my chart it's softened by a trine to Neptune and I think that really helps. I haven't found it to be nearly as difficult as it's supposed to be. I also have Sun opposite Mars in tight orb which is made a bit easier by the fact that they both contact Jupiter... my Sun trines it and my Mars sextiles it. I think it takes some of the tension of the opposition. IP: Logged |

I don't think sextiles are strong enough to counteract or cancel squares or oppositions because sextiles are minor aspects, while squares and oppositions are major aspects. However, this is not a set in stone rule. If it is an exact sextile, versus a wide orb square or opposition, the sextile could win. IP: Logged |

I think that's a nice observation, any personal planets touching jupiter gives some optimism and "happy-go-lucky" traits, so even when you're mad, it's quickly over and people aren't too frightened:P
