Hello, everyone. This is something I've always wondered about. Are they the same? If so, why does Astrodienst have an option for both on a chart?

The reason I'm asking is because Astrodienst says I have Fortuna in Scorpio in the third with Part of Fortune in Sagittarius in the fourth. Different signs and houses! Any thoughts?

The difference is they take into account if you were born during the day vs. Being born at night.
Day Births part fortune= Asc+ Moon-Sun
Night Births part fortune= Asc+ Sun-Moon

I'm born at night and know I have the correct sign and location. The only thing I can think of is Fortuna is chosen in the Asteroid list/name/number list, while Part of Fortune is chosen with the other Asteroids under Additional Objects????

Fortuna is a asteroid. However there is the option of clicking part of fortune in the additional objects box as well as the checkable box " always use day formula for Pars Fortunae". If you click the box and the additional objects "Part Fortune" you will receive different results.

Thank you. So, in your opinion which is correct? Try it in your chart. What do you think fits better?

Hard to say I haven't spent much time analyzing both of them. Fortuna conjuncts my asc/moon and pars fortune conjuncts my sun/jupiter. Luck is all around me

I thought the asteroid fortuna is like number 19 or something. POF isn't an asteroid. I will look again when I get home

Pars whatever is the same as Part of Fortune.
It's fortuna that's different

Edit: Ali already covered it

The Arabic part of Fortune is not quite the same meaning in our chart as Fortuna. The POF in our chart gives us some idea what we need to do to make our soul happy so that the doors of opportunity open for us. Fortuna differs in that it tells us about our approach to luck. The house we find it in may be where we feel luckiest depending on how it Fortuna is aspected. If we find Fortuna squaring another planet this could be where we feel short changed.

Ok, thanks, guys. I get confused so easily these days. Lol.

Pars Fortuna is the same as Part of Fortune

Fortuna is an asteroid.

But they mean the same thing I suppose?

Lol. Sorry, Peach. Thank you for the information. It helps clear things up a bit.

Okay, let me put this all together as best I can with my Western chart.

I'm currently writing about murder (Fortuna in Scorpio/3rd). Fortuna Depositor is located in Libra in the second house.

I write from home(Part of Fortune in Sagittarius/4th house).

The POF Depositor is in Aquarius/5th house of creativity. Uranus conjuncts Sun in Libra in the second house.

Venus is in Sag conjunct Neptune and POF in the fourth (where it all began).

My Vedic chart says essentially the same thing, except my ASC. moves from Virgo to Leo, with Taurus on the MC. This means 10th house ruler is in the fourth. My North Node or Rahu moves from Capricorn to Sagittarius. Rahu Depositor is in the fifth.

It's clear to me now I will make money from creative projects started at home. Alright, time to make dinner.

*Edit: I looked at my chart and see My Merc in Scorp is conj Fortuna. I guess I need to watch myself.

Something I'm trying for the first time:

http://www.campbellskitchen.com/recipes/chicken-corn-chowder-23099?fm=recipes_people

I made a couple of adjustments: I added a lot of Velveeta, some leftover French-style green beans, one can of cream of potato instead of the celery soup, two cans cream-style corn, chix broth, more milk and lastly, some heavy cream. Delicious!
