A couple of nights ago, I showed my friends their natal charts and the interpretations of them. Both of them found the interps very accurate, and one of them said that she found astrology interesting. However, she also said that she found the chart confusing, since both of them don't really understand besides their sun sign. I've been trying to explain how the chart is much more than their sun sign, but it's been difficult. So, how would you explain astrology (and by that I mean the real astrology- aspects, ascendant vs. moon vs. sun, not the "hey baby what's your sign") ? IP: Logged |

I usually start slow and say "just how the sun was in (ie) libra when you were born... the moon and all the other planets were in a sign, too" I also really like showing people newly into astrology their sun-moon combinations from astrology-numerolgy.com. People usually respond very well to these and it kinda opens to the door to looking at their own chart more deeply. IP: Logged |

The basic of basics is:- natal chart is the map where each planet is when we are born - theoretically, we absorb the energy of the moment we were born so natal is supposed to show how our energy is; - each planet represents different parts of us (Sun = ego, Moon = emotions, Mercury = mind and communication...); each sign represents how each planets can manifest; each house represents where we focus each part of us; - by being in different positions, the planets can be in harmony or in conflict with each other; - angles are like filters of our planets' energies - the AC is our own image, how we perceive ourselves and tend to color our personalities; IC is home, origins and family; DC is how we perceive relationships and the others; MC is our public image, career. People usually don't develop too in depth interest or catch up with everything, so the best start is probably telling them the 2nd point I wrote, and tell them something about their Sun/Moon/AC positions. I always start it out like this: "The moon affects the tides on earth, right?" then go on to explain that it also affects us, along with the sun and the rest of the planets. IP: Logged |
