How do these people communicate or think? I've never seen anybody mention Mercury in Aquarius on here. It's always Scorpios, Capricorns, lately Cancers…

I jump from topic to topic quickly, sometimes simply because a connection has been made in my brain to another topic, so people tend to either go with the conversation flow, or get confused because I've switched topic so quickly.

I don't care for really mundane topics. If I have to talk about that sort of thing, I like to do it with humor and have a conversation that's at least witty (and preferably short, moving on to other stuff).

My thoughts can be easily distracted, although I can focus on a task if need be. It's hard for me to just sit and talk about one thing with anyone and stick to that one topic. I tend to get bored if I have to do that.

There are some aspects to my Mercury that come into play; a trine to Pluto is my favorite, and sextile Neptune. So I like to talk about things that are deep or spiritual, or psychologically probing. Unfortunately, my Mercury is also opp my AC, so when I'm nervous I can just talk and talk and talk and...you get the picture.

When you say deep psychological probing, do you just mean you like to ask a lot of questions to see if your theory is right? I love Mercury / Pluto people! They must unknowingly attract me 'cause I probe them and their life situations more than they probe mine.

I also know what you mean about people getting confused about topics in conversation! I didn't know Mercury in Aquarius would do that, but you said your Mercury is sextile Neptune so that makes sense. What house is Mercury in?

I asked because a) I was already wondering when the last thread on Mercury in Aquarius was. They are VERY sparse around here it seems. and b) it turns out my favorite comedian is a Pisces Sun with Mercury in Aquarius and the line of thinking is scarily similar (at least from his acts. And I know acts are supposed to be relatable but his reasoning and delivery just feels SO like mine!)

I have Mercury in Aries in the 11H. It's weird because everything in my 11H squares my 7H stellium, which consists of Sat, Nept, and Uranus, but it completely missed Uranus.

My brother has Mercury in Aquarius. He never was a good pupil; however if something REALLY interests him, he will put HOURS into researching it and accumalate a wealth of knowledge, oftentimes guided by his intuitive ideas, and usually develop a very own opinion and conviction of things. He will share his knowledge without ever even thinking about asking for some kind of gratification.

For example he has been doing a lot of training and exercise plans for people, sometimes friends but not exclusively, very inidividual schedules which also include a whole lot of other things like nutrition, meditation and I do´t know what.

He totally immerses himself in these things, but does not see any progression in university (he is studying Sports and English), maybe because this system is too authoritative for him, and he doesn`t do well with hierarchies. He sees people as equals, at least noone has more value than someone else, especialy not just because he has a certificate that sais someone is a professor. lol

Unfortunately some authorities notice that he sees through these status symbols and does not get dazzled by them, and if they are not really competent and secure in themselves, he usually will face the long arm of the authorities. lol

He can also be totaly immersed on one topic and talking about it compulsively; something which we have in common, I guess my Mercury in Sagittarius is similiar. Actualy I think our Mercuries might be sextile, and his is in my 3rd house, while mine is in his 9th house.

It gets sometimes a bit difficult for other family members, especially my mom who feels left out, and can´t really understand how we can delve into such unimportant, abstract topics. (her Mercury is in Scorpio, my Dad`s is in Capricron, but I suppose his Aqua-Sun makes it easier to relate to our communication style than my Mum.).

However, at the same time he can also switch from topic to topic in an insane speed.

Oh and beware, we should have a different opinion on something.
The intellectual battle ensuing can be quite entertaining then; both of us can be sporting a little intellectual arrogance then.

Well I was not really aware of it, but his girlfriend mentioned (as he said to me later on) that she thought it was remarkable how I could strip him down, like leaving air out of a balloon, just with a sarcastic remark now and then.

I do not really want that, but sometimes when he starts getting into his monologue, I will get fed up being mere audience and well, apparently I know what to say to make him pay attention to something else than his own talking again.

He can do it as well, though. We are very much equal sparring partners in that respect.

Though my mum sais that he admires me very much to the point he is putting me on a pedestal, thinking he could never be as good or smart or whatever than me.

Which is total crap, if you ask me.
I don´t know anyone who has such an unique, original, creative, independent way of thinking as he does. Unfortunately it is not what gets rewarded in this society. Especially not if you are still at university.

There's a point I don't agree with you there, Ceridwen, although my mother says about me the exact same words you say about your brother.

I'm still going to Uni, and while it is true that our typical brand of thinking is not the best way to get recognized, I couldn't really complain I'm "not being rewarded".
As a mercury in Aquarius (ruler of my chart) I don't want to/can't be 100% part of the system. But in these circumstances I believe you can't entirely blame the system for not accepting you 100% either.
I'm willing to deal with the consequences of my independence, because compromise would actually be so much harder to take than non-cooperation.

I didn´t mean to evoke the impression that I thought that.

Also in the case of my brother, he might be a sensitive Pisces Sun, but has a triple conjunction of Moon-Jupiter-Uranus in Sagitarius square that sun. Plus Venus and Mars in aries in 1st house (trine the triple conjunction).

That definitely figures in as well.

Would love to give my insight but mine is in the anaretic degree so I think I'm not a typical representation.

My sun is squared by my Gemini rising, but as a teacher, I don't think that Gemini and Sagittarius are equal when it comes to adapting to traditional teaching methods.
The difficulties are very different for both signs, and University cannot often afford to design methods on an individual basis.

When I first entered Uni, it really felt like finally finding my long-lost home, and I never had nothing but excellent grades, although that doesn't seem to have led me anywhere
But the overall good feeling must definitely help me accept the inconveniences and disloyalties. And my mars in capricorn won't let me give up anyway

My mom has Mercury in Aquarius. I can't stand it. Probably because mine is in Cancer and I am sure she can't stand mine either. When I talk to her she never listens, I have to repeat myself constantly. She never understands what I am talking about and constantly interrupts me, says what she needs to say and then ends the conversation.
I agree with what others say about this placement. When she finds something that interests her she can be stuck on it for days or weeks.

Hehehehe wow I feel like I'm reading about myself here! I mentioned above my Mercury is in the 11H… I typically have a LOT of grievances with Mercury in Cancer people. It's a LOT of work for me (ditto that my Mercury is in Aries which actually squares Cancer, but still!)

So you find her really selfish and abrupt conversation-wise. Interesting…

What about other air Mercuries and you?

My brother and aunt have Libra in Mercury which squares mine. I find it difficult to talk to either of them. I think I find it difficult because every time I say something they correct me. They seem to treat me like I don't know what I am talking about. I have yet to meet a Gemini Mercury though.
Interestingly enough I seem to know many Mercury in Aries people and although they square my Mercury and it is difficult to start a conversation with them, once we get talking I enjoy conversing with them.

Aw, we love you back!
When I say psychologically probing, I mean about anything, really. I don't tend to ask people personal questions for the intent of probing their psyche...I usually do that sort of analyzing in my head, haha.

I enjoy talking about why certain "types" of people act the way that they do, or analyze their childhood experiences, their personalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. when I'm talking to other people. In my own head, however, I always analyze people.

Mercury is technically in my 6th house, but is conjunct my DC so on the cusp of 7th, and also conjunct my Part of Fortune.
The type of work I do reflects this a lot, I think. Working in any type of social service setting requires a lot of analyzing, communication, and viewing everyone as equal.

I have Mercury in Aquarius in the 7th house.
And Mercury square Pluto and Mars.

Violets explained it really well and I can recognize a lot of it.

I like to listen and I enjoy having a having a deep conversation with someone

As to how I think.. this description I found online very w on point for me:

"They relentlessly pursue a subject to its very depths, ensuring that no stone is left un-turned, and enjoy delving deeply into psychology, evolutionary topics, occult and taboo areas. Frequently fascinated by hidden mysteries, criminal investigations and research they have a laser-like detective ability."

I am exactly the same as this but I have a cancer mercury in 11H. many people get irritated when I flip flop between subjects.

Especially if you have Mercury in Aquarius in an AIR house. Are you extra cerebral?

I have Mercury in Aquarius and I love everything new, Science, Futuristic stuff, Technology, openminded people and humor. My Mercury is kinda special though 'cause it's in the 12th house and sometimes there are things I keep to my self. Quite often I communicate spiritually too, without talking too much.

Supposedly is the best sign in which Mercury can be. Some astrologers say that Mercury in Aquarius is the real exaltation of this planet.

They communicate depending on the aspects it receive but in general, they are cold and practical when they speak, they say things how they are. They are realist, interested in technology, they are always actualized.

They are not too verbally intelligent like Mercury in Gemini, and not too analytic like Mercury in Virgo.

Their intelligence is more inclined to science, specially physics and math, programming, computers, etc. They are always thinking ahead any other mercury sign.

Not verbally intelligent huh?

Ok, whatever!

I really enjoy having Mercury in Aquarius, it's very fun. It also aspects most of my chart, which makes for a very long story, but if I could just summarize my opinion of it standing on its own, I'd say that YES, as one would expect from this placement, I'm totally interested in "weird" topics, I say things for shock value, I can hold my own in most conversations because I can keep up and have a steady stream of lively ideas.

People who are smarter and quicker than me freak me out a bit, but what I do in that situation is quickly revert to STUDENT and just delight in studying someone else's game.

I love logical people. Here's a heart for all you people who know and use good logic:

My mind works in extreme flashes and bursts that are very logical. Often I will jump and people will then look at me as to why I did that. Then I have to go back and explain the logical pathways that I underwent to get to the next topic, which I really don't even think about when I jump. Often my mind works so fast that my mouth just can't keep up so I often summarise what I'm thinking, especially when I have multiple concepts running at once. I also tend to go off on aside topics but then always back to main ones and often I talk in bullet point style too. Just the reasoning, logical aspect of Mercury in Aquarius. I have to also add that I have Mercury opposed Saturn, square Uranus, conjunct Sun and also Mars in Gemini.

It all depends, I do like to think things through and have some time to weigh the pros and cons from a logical point of view.
Other thimes my gut feeling takes over and i'll just go with the flow (Pisces Sun )

Oh! Sorry. I didn't explain my self clearly. I mean didn't mean that Mercury in Aquarius people aren't verbally intelligent. In general the three: Virgo, Gemini, and Aqua Mercury are specially very verbally intelligent. I mean that Gemini Mercury is more inclined to writing, reading, journalism, etc.
