What do they mean? And which is more important? What about their position?

you can check them in the "additional objects" box in astro.com

vertex and anti vertex are on the same axis so any conjunction to anti-vertex will be an opposition to the vertex.
IME they are VERY POWERFUL in synastry. It's almost a rule for me, whenever someone's sun (sun only in my cases) conjuncts vertex/anti-vertex I'm hooked and captured, completely.

Would you agree with the article I linked to that the orb must be tight (within a couple degrees) and that working with conjunctions is best? In addition to synasrty, have you worked with them in transits?

Yes sure, infact all the 3 cases I had were conjunctions/oppositions to the vertex within 1 orb. I wouldn't really consider squares/trines/sextiles.
Yes transits!! I was lovestruck with someone ( none of his planets hit my vertex though.) when t-venus conjuncted my vertex!

I agree with Vicky's post. It's huge in synastry. I like reading about it because people are still trying to interpret the vertex. But in synastry I have had it conjunct sun and ASC and been completely entranced!

I've noticed the same thing with Mercury or Venus aspecting my Vertex Axis. My Vertex Axis spans 15 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio.

Due to my 5th, 7th, and 8th houses, I'm often pulled to Sagittarius or Aries Suns, and then they'll have Venus or Mercury in Scorpio or Taurus conjunct my Vertex, or antivertex.

Interestingly, I also have Uranus conjunct my Antivertex! And I'm obsessed with astrology (a Uranus topic), and find Uranus and Aquarius types of people fascinating/interesting.

Yeah, the Vertex in synastry give a fated feeling to relationship, like something life-changing or meaningful is happening, and it works in transits too.

When people aspect our vertex Axis (conjunctions and oppositions are best but I've noticed that other aspects have an effect too, only more mild), they strike a chord in us and stand out in our memories. Details about them seem to resonate with exactly what we've been yearning for, fantasied about, or have had a fascination with. There's a bizarre type of synchronicity associated with Vertex synastry, where we come across the each other person in coincidental ways, and find it freaky what little things we have in common. It feels like a an exhilarating breakthrough! Somehow people (or transits) aspecting our vertex just RESONATE with us in a special way.

The Vertex Axis is said to be the Axis of 'wish fulfillment'. I read an article once that talked about how when our Vertex is influenced by a person or transit, we are somehow able to get or perceive just what we wanted... We'll find out important information, experience an important event, or meet an important person. In this article the Vertex is said to be the part of the mind recognizes events and people as personally relevant, and significant, as opposed to all the other random stuff that goes on around us on a daily basis.

The Vertex is powerful, but it's doesn't guarantee a happy ending. You could have it with the person you marry for life, or the person that breaks your heart early on who you've learnt a valuable lesson from. Vertex connections can only indicate that a relationship makes an impact on you and alters your perspective on life.

The Vertex Axis active in romantic synastry is extremely potent. But the Vertex can also show important events in our lives in a non-romantic sense. The Vertex Axis is said to show where we have important turning-points in our lives. People or transits that aspect our Vertex Axis often set-off seemingly ‘fateful’ chains of events and circumstances, which lead us on to our next chapter in life. The Vertex Axis has a lot to say about our personal breakthroughs and ‘EUREKA!’ moments.

Another note about Vertex transits and synastry: Just because we have a Vertex transit, or some Vertex synastry with somebody, doesn’t mean this is absolutely guaranteed to change our lives significantly. The existence of the transit or synastry can only show the potential for this to happen. The possibility is there but it may or may not be actualized. I mean, the moon goes over our Vertex Axis (conjunct either end) twice a month! I’m sure other factors is synastry and transits come into play as to whether or not something ‘life-changing’ happens. The Vertex Axis just takes the impact of these things ‘over the top‘. or ’off the charts’ in terms of how personally relevant these things feel for us in that experience.

However, when a ‘fated’, ‘life-changing’, ‘synchronistic’ event does happen, it’s almost certain that the Vertex is involved somehow…. Either through synastry, transits, or even progressed charts, or progressed synastry. The Vertex Axis is one of my favorite topics in astrology.

good point. i've had ASC exact conjunct a vertex and it was a hugely important for me (perhaps him too) but it didn't end in happily ever after. i have it again, sitting right on the DSC in synastry and composite, but this time it has more significance

Thanks Lotis for the insight! I have a question though, what does it mean if SN conjuncts Vertex in synastry? Is it a powerful connection and how does it play out for both parties?

Great posts everyone!

My boyfriend has:
his Vertex opposite my Moon and Jupiter
conjunct my Chiron and MC

My Vertex makes easy aspects to his Venus, Saturn and Uranus.

I guess, his Vertex opposite my Moon is the strongest one, but since Vertex person i the one who's smitten, I can't really judge and say how he feels. All I can say is that, he tells me he loves me and that I'm beautiful daily, and I'm not short of cuddles and kisses

I would think that would be very strong. I don't know, I just started studying the Vertex.

I do have to say the Fated Meeting thing rings True, I felt these very eerie electrical reactions to a person I met when the Sun crossed my Vertex. I mean I get such cold chills I have to get in the bathtub to warm myself back up, it's that powerful. It's weird.

Yes, it's powerful. I consider the Angles (Mc/Ic, Asc/Dsc) and the Nodes lining up with the Vertex Axis significant.

Typically, the Angles/Node person will make a big impression on the Vertex person, and resonate with the Vertex person's dreams/fantasies/perceptions in some way.

Each Angle will affect will impress upon the Vertex person in the nature of the theme of that Angle.

The Nodes are about our life journey, as we learn to balance our past old habit patterns (comfort zone) with embracing the new and different (and growing forward into the future). So when the Nodes line up with the Vertex Axis, the Vertex person might have something of a fascination with the Nodes person's personal development, past history, and direction of growth.

Thanks Lotis your answers always help to shed light! Will the Node person be held back by the Vertex person though? And is it a soulmate indication?
