Well, I'm no expert but I've looked into stationary planets a bit because I have both my Jupiter and my Mercury Stationary Retrograde. I think in the case of Stationary Direct (and please take this with a grain of salt) it has the effect of strengthening and amplifying the planet. Unlike a retrograded planet, the energy is directed outward.

For anyone who might be curious, I think having a planet Stationary Retrograde is like having it retrograde except more powerful and without a lot of the issues that come along with having a retrograde planet. YMMV, of course.
