I was reading a text on astrology and i came across someone who was saying about our ascendant being our Earth sign?
The ascendant is when we come out of the womb, in Earth, and adapt to the constellation on the east.
All the other planets effect us, so Earth must have a connection, it is the one we're standing on after all.Th Earth has no real life to it in astrology. What do you think? ------------------

Actually, no. What the hell. Earth? Nah. It's the Ascendant! Earth is where we are, and that's precisely why it doesn't "affect" us in the way other planets do.IMO. IP: Logged |

We are earth. We rose up out of the dirt as organisms which bred and died for millions of years until we got where we are today. This is why I don't believe the Earth has a place in astrology at the moment - because we are Earth, and the planets affecting us is the same as the planets affecting planet Earth.  The Ascendant is the east and the DC is the west...which makes them points! Think of directions we travel I guess. East is where we rise? Something like that. IP: Logged |

Whatever planets give off, energies or magnetic waves, they're going to come from the source of whatever the planet is, so if we're standing on Earth , we're going to be effected by what Earth gives off the most, why would she be any different than the other planets?
Apart from only Earth has had life
.. The ascendant could be the way we adapt to Earth, become native .. it makes sense. All the other planets give off there own layer of the being alligned with a constellation and thats just what the ascendant is, the constellation that was aligned with Earth. ?

Given that the earth rotates the sun and not the other way around such as in astrology, the point of earth would be direct opposite the sun, no?IP: Logged |

The whole chart is Earth, in a way.You are Here. The Centre. East (Ascendant,) West (Descendant) Above (MidHeaven,) Below (Nadir) All the Angles and One in the Midst. IP: Logged |

I almost said it WAS the Sun reading, because we are actually opposite that.The Ascendant is that First Ray of Light we See. Where things are Magnified... IP: Logged |

How is the Earth aligned with a sign? From our perspective, everything rotates around the earth and we are the centre. Centres don't move. Saying the AC is where we align...then so should the DC.  IP: Logged |

ASC is an angle. Cannot be the Earth since Earth is the chart itself with planetary energies on it. Angles are cardinal points.IP: Logged |

Earth is opposite the sun.
This is just a fact.
Ascendant is not the entire planet earth.
Planet earth is the earth LOL.To decide whether Earth as an astrological energy opposite the sun has significance is debatable.
Though I suppose this is why suns in opposition are suppose to be so transformative.
Ideally we are suppose to learn traits of the sign opp to us. IP: Logged |

It's cause the Sun has so much Power. It is OUR Star. It brings the Light from that part of the Zodiac to Earth, even if we reside in the Sign opposite. I live near the Mountains, so don't always have a clear view, but if you set your Compass, and look to the East at Moonrise on the Full Moon, (especially at the Equinox') you will see a Magnificently Magnified Moon. It looks just HUGE! That magnification point IS the Ascendant. IP: Logged |

Conversely, if you look to the West, and see the remains of Light, where the Sun has just DESCENDED, you will see...If you look to the Sky, or MIDHEAVEN, you will see... And for those with X-Ray vision, of the Superman variety, those who can see down THROUGH the Earth, to the very NADIR of our earthly existence, they will see... IP: Logged |
