My sister has this. She is only interested in "ambitious" people.

Howie Mandel has this as well.

High cheekbones. Dough eyes. Angular faces. The ones I know all have dark hair. I do know one with blue eyes the other brown.

I'd sum it up as angular and cherubic.

I'm often perceived as serious by people who don't know me - or actually it's more quiet and kind....sweet, confident, laid-back, peaceful energy that is approachable, is more like it. Hard to size up initially. But like most Cap risings underneath all that is a wicked sense of humor and playful spirit.

quote:

Aquiring money is not a strong drive with me for some reason. Success is only important as it relates to me, in my own mind, on my own gauge or judgement, not to prove anything to anyone else or the world at large. It's my own opinion of me that matters most and i am my own worst critic.

Cap risings tend to go one way or another. They can be extremely deep and spiritually inclined by nature or cut-throat and only care about worldly success. The one's i have known have this old soul, wise monk-like vibe to them.

examples of Cap rising forum members here that i've gotten to know well over the years....

and more i can't remember right now.

But if youve been around awhile, that should give you an idea of the energy.

Salt of the earth type people. Intense, sensitive, deep, kind.

Depends on what you mean by "serious". Most of the time I'm pretty chill and relaxed - I save my energy for family, friends, study, goals, inner self/mind... These areas of life are quite important to me, so I spend a lot of time and effort on them.

I can be outgoing, hmmm I like to have fun and to laugh.

How important is my job and money, eh.. at this point, probably no more than they are to the average person. I need enough money to sustain my lifestyle and help friends out when they need it, so yeah I'm not really interested in making a lot of money or more than I need.

Job - hmm yah quite important. Idk, I kinda like my job, and they pay me so I do the work well and fulfil my responsibilities. In the future I hope to get a job that I can be passionate about.

That's cool lol. I'm assuming she's pretty ambitious herself then right? And I really like Howie I had no idea he was a Cap rising.

Thank you so much for this. All of what you said really makes a lot of sense. I like energy like this and people like this. I'm the same way about being my own biggest critic. I could give a **** what other people think about me or say about me. And I'm shockingly the same way with money. I'd be just as happy with life if I didn't have it.

I think Cappy rising makes you very serious, especially when you are young. My sister told me, when she was 9 that I needed to practice piano because my "parents sweat and bleed to pay for [my] lessons."
She is "ambitious" but that is just the persona she projects. She is not particularly realistic or successful imo, pretty antisocial. But that has to do with Saturn, Uranus, Neptune conjunct her ASC in less than 2 degree (and obviously other aspects).
When she has a conversation with someone, she needs to hear that person talks about big dreams, not satisfied with current life or what not (I am not entirely sure what she talks about). She was called a "snob" by her college classmates, so that speaks volume.

Most cappy risings are not particularly popular, especially when they are younger. Howie Mandel said he didn't have friends. I love him and I think as he ages, as with any thing Cappy/Saturn, he gets better (by that I mean they relax and stop taking everything so damn seriously - I have plenty of cappy placements so I am not excused from this)

I personally don't get along with my sister, but there are a few cappy risings who can very dry sense of humor and can be pretty intelligent.

Both my parents have this. My father fits the definition of a workaholic down to a T, and my mother, well if there was such a thing as a familaholic, she would be it. LOL, not that I'm trying to scare the heck out of you or anything.
Ah, money. My father would cry if he had to give too much of it in a single day. There's no better way to bring down his mood than spend his hard-earned money. Both will spend surprising amount of money to whatever silly thing they've gotten into (green microorganisms, new age books you name it).
Serious, no they're not. They can be a lot goofier than all three of their kids, and we have fire-air risings, all of us.

Thank you so much. A lot of this makes a lot of sense for a few people that I know who have this. I think when you add signs like Scorpio and Libra and even Sagittarius in the mix it takes away from that and makes the person less serious. Or at least from what I've seen.

Haha yeah if you told me you had cap rising, I'd be surprised (I like surprises btw lol). Yeah, based on how you communicate on LL alone, it's hard to think that you had cap rising. You come across as a very bubbly libra.

But yeah, again, perhaps I wouldn't be very surprised. I know my share of libra sun/cap rising people, and the rising sign doesn't really show, especially in everyday/social interactions. I get to see more of it when I have a chance to look at how they construct their lives and how they "do their things".

It depends. At work and at school (when I was a student), I am extremely serious and conscientious. I will work tirelessly towards a goal for many years until I achieve it. Around my friends, I'm a big goofball and enjoy making people laugh.

My job is very important to me. My life revolves around my career. Of course, I have Saturn and Pluto both in Scorpio in the 10th house, so my obsession with my career may be due to these placements rather than just cap rising. Money is not as important to me. As long as I have enough to live a comfortable life all the way through my retirement years, then I'm happy. I don't need to be wealthy or have fancy possessions.

Thank you so much for answering. I feel the same way with my job being my obsession. I'm also scorpio Pluto but it's in the second instead. I also don't really care for money. I have enough now and I'm comfortable with it for now. My Saturn is in the the 4 and it is also one of my dominant planets.

What's your definition of serious

Not to joke about things that I consider to be a serious matter.

I take words that are said to me very seriously. I don't understand the concept of 'I didn't mean what I said'. I mean the things that I say and I say things that I mean. If I don't mean it I won't say it. If someone asks me if her dress is beautiful and I don't find her dress anywhere near beautiful, I'll say ''no''.

My job is important, but there are many things more important to me.

Money is important too.

[QUOTE]What's a Cap rising look like?

Everyone who is knowledgeable in astrology tells me I look like a typical cap rising although I do not fit the stereotype descriptions of cap risings at all. I recognize Cap risings peers not by their physical attributes, rather by the vibe they give off.

My rising is 1 degree of Capricorn. I have long, dark hair and I was told by one nurse that I had the darkest eyes she's ever seen.

I never really knew this till the last few years, but I think I have a rather intense gaze that can unnerve some people. A couple of my ex-boyfriends would not let me look at them if they were competing in games or tournaments because they said it would throw them off. I couldn't understand why. Then one day I saw a webcam pic I took for a guy I was talking to and it bloody scared me! lol And the funny part was that I in no way was even trying to look stern or serious but you'd think I was giving you the bloody evil eye. lol (I do have some Gypsy bloodline so I like to joke it's because of that.)

Like most Cap risings, I had a difficult, lonely childhood where I felt forced to grow up too fast. I worried. I worried about bills and how we were going to make ends meet as a child. I wanted to be able to make money to help my Mom out. I fretted and worried and felt depressed about our circumstances and to the extent that I thought about checking out because I didn't know how I was going to make it through (how frightening is that to have such thoughts even as a child?) I didn't have a carefree childhood, I was pretty serious and pensive.

I also looked way older than my age... When I changed schools in grade 6, I was mistaken for the teacher when I walked in the room (yes, really.) I was typically asked if I wanted a drink when I'd go to a restaurant at about age 12 and I was asked for sex at age 9 and up (I hit puberty at 9 years of age.)

Now I'm older and I hope that life will get better and that I will look younger than my age. I know I am constantly thought to be much younger when dealing with friends online because I have a bubbly personality for the most part and laugh a lot. They do say that Cap risings get more youthful with age so maybe! There ought to be some positives of a Cap rising as I definitely experienced the negatives!

I definitely think that us Cap risings tend to melancholy and I wish it wasn't so!

I can be serious enough, however when I'm with my friends there is nothing serious about me, I make funny noises and faces, crack jokes etc. In public I tend to be very quiet and poised on my own, which I think people perceive as seriousness. Money is only important to me as a means to an end, if I can afford food and rent I'm happy.
