I mean, everyone does both obviously. But which is your natural drive? Which is your immediate reaction?

I'm verrrrrryyyyyyyyy emotive. Everything about me is essentially based in and guided by my emotions.

But! That does not mean I don't rationalise or think with logic and reason! I do! But, my natural drive is to feel things and navigate by how I feel. My emotions come first and thoughts come second.

I'm lots of water, specifically Scorpio, while I do have bits of Cancer and Pisces influence via houses. Uhmmmmu, I'm not sure what else lol! I'm even Mercury dominant!

My natural drive is to feel and react immediately. Over time I learn to rationalise my emotions and "gut feelings". Although when it comes to making decisions, I still feel inclined to follow my "gut feelings" rather than my head, well except for financial decisions, works or career choices.

A fair bit of earth in pisces house.

My emotions or others'?

Eh' either way.. I over analyze them.

If it's my own emotions I over analyze them constantly before exposing them. And then want others to help me analyze. It's really rather trying on my nerves.

If it's other people's I usually analyze as they speak, using body language and eye contact (or lack-thereof) to determine how they actually feel. I've been accused of "not listening" because I read what was behind the actual words that were said. Meh. Not my problem you can't tell me what you mean.

I do both, though. I try to rationalize because I FEEL so freaking strongly. If it's an "in the moment" feeling I react purely and simply. But if it's something I've had any amount of time to decide "yes I feel this way" I tear whatever it is apart until it's bare and raw. I hate it.

I tend to feel and react at first, then rationalize them later. I feel my way through life but I don't really trust emotions at all. However, they are too strong in me to ever ignore or put aside or even try to push to the back burner. Whenever I've ignored my gut feeling, I've regretted it.

I'm emotional. I do rationalize from time to time but let's be real. An emotion is an emotion. Hate is just hate regardless of the reason behind it. It is what it is. Same with love. You either feel love a great deal of the time, or hate. You have to decide which is healthiest.

There is always something logical behind emotions, that drove us to feel them. In other words, if we feel something, then there are reasons behind these emotions, it just depends on how in tune we are with them to be able to understand them easily or not.

With that said, of course we still have to have some self control and not let it take over. XP

Interesting question.

When I experience emotions, I can easily rationalize them while I am having them if I want to because I realize it in the moment.
I realize I can stop and make sense of the situation while I'm feeling the emotion.

But I purposely don't because well, they're emotions, and I'd rather let them pass naturally.
Kinda stupid I know because why not rationalize them if I'm able to? Lol.

It's better for my peace of mind, to be honest.

I hate emotions and wish to live without them, but at the same time, I enjoy them because of emotional stimulation, lol.
Maybe that's why I don't rationalize them purposely in the moment? Probably, hehe.

How does one rationalize their emotions? ^_^' Sorry for asking, but I've always just felt them.I'm guessing it's all of my watery Houses and my Artemis placement.

Rationalizing an emotion is simply to make sense of it and come to a logical solution for the problem at hand

Edit - Or are you asking how someone else deals with theirs? My bad, lol.

I do both. It starts immediate.

I feel the emotions. Gemini moon starts processing and rationalising everything. That will however take time because the 2 twins have to compare notes after that. So if you wonder why Gem moons take time to respond to you about FEELINGS, that's why.

It's hard not to instinctively rationalize having a Virgo AC, Moon sextile Mercury and Mercury as a singleton

Thoughts come first, emotions second, though that includes channeling emotions to useful ends (for example, fear can empower or paralyze you and I've learned to make it work for me instead of against me). No doubt that's all the air in my chart (my splash of Scorpio probably helps with impulse control as well) and I've seen too many people ruin themselves by letting themselves be ruled by emotions without enough impulse control and I have some guilt years after doing things based on feeling without thinking them through. The best part for me is by thinking things through first I enjoy a lot more positive emotions than I would otherwise with a lot less regret.

I definitely don't like them when I am in public, trying to do something like work or study, and I get upset, angry, anxious or scared. I wish there were a switch in my head I could flip and that would make the emotion go away, then. Whatever it is I am doing is more important.

Yeah, I know right

I know emotions are needed for drive, but I think it would be nicer if they were lowered quite a bit. Especially in public.
I try to be a bit emotionless in public, but I don't think that is particularly attractive to most people, lol.

Drive emotions are different from negative ones. I don't mind the adrenaline fueled hyper-focus.

Rationalize MOST of them. I like it that way.
Frustration... nah. LOL
I can kind of decide what is worth having emotion for and what's not.
I do feel things immediately, but then I start to think. I weigh what I'm feeling against what I'm feeling it for, then can choose to just ignore it and move on. Unless say, someone just keeps bugging me. This old bi**hy lady at work for example. I've been able to get away from her often enough but if she keeps her crap up I'm going to respond - not in such a way to get me into trouble.

Virgo Mercury - Gemini Moon (squared)

EDIT: I seem to be unable to rationalize emotions about myself. (emotions that don't usually get expressed, but I feel them)

sun conjunct MOON
venus conjunct MOON
mercury conjunct MOON

I certainly feel my entire life is centered around my feelings and emotions.
So I can be extremely moody.

Lol, yeah, I know.
I did some the other day, but it isn't that quick. It's very very boring to do, lol.

I never forgot about it though, just got lazy which I am mad about, lol.

I will finish it later today when I return home from school. I already did the Sun signs and half of the Moon signs. You might be surprised by the Sun sign winner. I was and thought it was pretty cool.

Even the negative ones sometimes because of the intensity and emotional stimulation. I'm crazy I guess, lol.

I'm Air and Earth dominant, so it's nice to feel from time to time when I'm able to, I guess, lol.

I just hate when emotions cloud reason. That is something I can most definitely live without.

my emotions are so painful for me / i'm too shallow to contain them so i'm always bucketing them out with logic. the bucket seems to have a hole in it. i am going to try start feeling more as i do seem to come through it more myself when i do. but at first it's so intense or i'm not sure they are really there after all & i amdisplaced.

to answer the q i think emotions are first but a heavily set thinking reflex

mercury trine satutn,
mercury trine neptune-moon,
mercury trine mars.
think mercury-pluto opp is the culprit. lacking air - over-compensating maybe?

What I don't like is acid indigestion from stressful emotions. Do you ever experience that? It's supposed to be Virgo/sixth house related because of the worrying inclination.
