Hi guys, I've been into astrology for almost a decade, and most of the time I've been focused on reading my own (or my loved ones') chart or relationship charts. I rarely gave readings for total strangers online, since I was not feeling experienced enough to read others' charts accurately, and reading others' charts is a big responsibility.

But lately, I feel that I should give it a try and help others as well, even if I'm not fully ready. I feel that being able to gain knowledge and wisdom is a great thing, and it makes me feel that I should share what I know with others, specially when this knowledge can help others to raise awareness and understanding, as it helped me. It's not like I have much knowledge and wisdom and experience yet, even thought almost a decade has passed lol, but it's just, I feel that if we all can come to learn then shouldn't we try to share as well? I remember my noob self from some years ago, so lost lol, and then there have been really selfless astrologers who are experienced and shared what they know, which allowed me and many others to reach where we are today. Even now I have started going to astrology classes in the real life, and I feel that the knowledge they shared, how great it is if many more can experience them as well.

Again, I'm not experienced yet, and I feel guilty of laziness sometimes, but I'm beginning to feel that it's time to do something for others as well, just as I once needed when I was green at this, whether by giving readings from time to time or to start writing things and share them.

What about you guys? How long have you been into astrology, and when did you start feeling ready to give readings or to help others?

Also, what advice would you give for others who might not be experienced enough, but want to start doing so?

I've always had an interest in astrology but started looking into it since 1998. Haven't really started looking into it properly since about 2008. I never feel I know enough. I'm buying more books now and reading them but I feel the more I explode, the less I know. I feel that about life overall though.

I have been told to go professional but I don't think it is my calling. Have run horaries about it and the response is the same. For me, it's just simply a bit of fun. Heck, not sure if I believe in it.

I have done a lot of charts and advice for people but I don't accept payment.

I can only suggest that you continue studying. I am sure that you'd know a lot more than the layperson and even more than a lot of astrologers. I've talked to a few people who know significantly little and classify themselves as "paid astrologers", which is a shame. I'm sure you know a lot. As for the time to practice, maybe run an electional chart or even an horary to see when or just do it. You've got to start somewhere, don't you?

2009-present.

You are never ready. You just do it. You need to trust yourself and choose your words carefully to not confuse the person. You also need to have knownledge and to use it paying attention at the chart. You check the aspects, the orbs but most important the HOUSES and ANGLES.

Oh, and practice and practice. Read a lot of textbooks. You can get good information on the net and boards but it is often conflicting and written by novices trying to find answers.

True, we are never truly ready unless we start to practice it.

Yes, I also get the feeling that I don't know enough, it's just there is so much, and so much complexity! The more I know, the more I feel that I know so little.

As for being a professional astrologer, an interesting thing is that my astrology teacher said that she does not charge anything for readings she give (and she is a great teacher, so much wisdom), as she just wants to help others and share her knowledge.
I also know another astrologer online that is very skilled, and he/she often gives readings for free.

I don't feel like I'd charge for readings, since what I know was learned for free, and from astrologers who shared their knowledge for free, and then this is something that I feel that I should/could share with others freely since it would be great if the knowledge can be passed to others and help others.
Of course, if it takes a long long time to do a serious reading (and dedicating fully to studying seriously), and if I don't have income then considering this as a job might be possible, but for now I'm just doing simple (not yet experienced) readings and bits of sharing, and I'm fine with my own income.
(thought I guess that it would be a nice idea if one charges a small amount for a non professional reading, and donate it)

Started reading astrology books since i was a kid. I got into it just to read people, not to do readings for people. It turned into the icebreaker topic whenever I meet new people. I gave up on it several years ago because it wasn't helping. Not when websites are telling you "oh you are going to be a serial killer."

Only got back to it a few months ago. With a more mature mind, I feel more in control of the knowledge. Almost like a fresh perspective of it. Started truly understanding myself more. I thought it'll be awesome if astrology can be used as a healing tool.

I don't know when I'll be ready to do a full chart reading. I prefer those Q&As I just do readings if I know or see anything based on what i know. The best way to learn is possibly to just do it and see how it clashes with other astrologers here. lol.

I do reading for my friends for free to check if I'm right or if the interpretation I read is correct. I don't take money obviously and I'm far from being pro. Can't see myself going pro either
