I have a very deep passion for Astrology, but I haven't had an direction since I started studying it when I was 10 years old. I would go to the bookstore and but certain books, but it's all just scattered information because I still can't organize my thoughts on Astrology and there's still so much I don't know. I would like to know if there are certain books I should buy or are there any classes offered in the United States that I can enroll in.. something to get me started without jumping from one aspect to the next (houses to aspects.. to asteroids to types of charts etc.). I have already read Joanne Nolfolk's "The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need" and after researching and finding Astro. com I have realized that her book is just general Although it's still very useful. I just want to learn learn learn but with direction and organization instead of learning out of order.IP: Logged |

From my experience the easiest way to learn astrology(or annyhting for that matter) is to practice it, allot! Say you meet someone who looks and/or behaves like a certain sign, you look up their chart and see what might account for that. The thing about doing this is that you will start to recognize certain patterns and remember them much more clearly than you would if you just read about it in a book, this way you will experience it firsthand. Maybe if the circumstances are right you might even discover something new ^^ Books and the internet and such things are good aswell, but mearly to provide a basic understanding, you should build upon that with experience. Btw i like to use facebook and simlar things for this as there you often have their birth date and from that you can ditermine their sun, planets and some of their aspects. You also see which moon signs they might have and as you learn more you can more accurately pinpoint the right one. Also astrofaces is good for determining asc if you don't have birth time, altough this is not a 100% if you get some experiences you will find it to be quite accurate. IP: Logged |

One thing i have found so helpful is my solar return chart.....
Start with a year from your past that really stood out, something major occurred and changed your life...
Look at the chart angles and where the planets fall are their stand out aspects? Try to remember your overall feeling in that year.
Look at the solar return planets, see how they aspect, what houses are they in, read up on what the houses mean....the house shows how the planets energy will be directed.Look at the ascendant, how did you appear to others that year, how did the world appear to you?
Scorpio Asc...you might not have had a hard time trusting people, Saggy Ac...you were very optimistic and believed it will all work out, Virgo As....you became overly critical of yourself or others, Pisces Ac....maybe you feel into a depression and felt like nobody really cared? Look at your moon, where is it, how is it aspected...how did you feel that year?
Look at your Sun....was your ego beat down and hiding in the 12th house or was it in the 6th and you felt great when everyone appreciated you because you were always there for them, working for them.
Did you fall in love that year, and your venus or moon is in your 5th house or 7th but opposed Chiron/Dejanira or Mars....and you got your heart broken or it ended in a huge fight?
Was mars on your Ascendant opposed your Venus and that relationship was the first time you started standing up for yourself...maybe you even got feisty and started picking fights....?? This has been, for me, a huge way to learn how many different aspects/houses/signs and how they play out in many different ways...
Solar return changes every year, as you change, so you can feel new and different aspects every year.
This gives the opportunity to understand how different aspects feel even though they are not in your birth chart! IP: Logged |

I think im going to start a thread and ask others to talk about major years in their life.....and then compare it to their solar return to see how the charts demonstrates that year, from an astrological view.
Ill get that going tomorrow....then you'll have others to share and compare with!
Doing this is kind of like having the inside feeling of many different charts....you can even make a log of different years, what happened and what aspects went along with those events!
Then, as an example, if someone asks "what does it mean when pluto squares neptune"....you could look at your log and maybe see pluto squared neptune in ""year"" of your solar return.
You can share your experience, but look at the signs/houses and other aspects in your that solar return, try to think how it relates to what you already know about the planets and then put it together with what actually happened that year. Notice the differences, a pluto in scorpio square aqua neptune is going to be much harder to work through than a pisces neptune and saggy pluto...because scorpio/aqua are fixed signs, pisces/saggy are mutable...so try to notice the differences between your experiences and what others say about their experiences...then pay attention to their planets sign and the houses their planets fall in...you will start to see patterns and how these different signs and houses play out and manifest into real life even when the planet and aspect are the same.....the sign and house will make or produce a unique experience for each person.This will give you good feedback...if they say, OMG....thats exactly what happened to me...you know your understanding the planets energies from personal experience and there is no better teacher!
