I am really noticing a trend of many of the people I look up on astrotheme to be cancers.

Particularly, I'm a Capricorn, so I'm attracted to these cancer types because they have early success in whatever they undertake given the nurture or luck is there too.

I notice that capricorns on the other hand have to keep working but end up enjoying success into old age...where as cancers do amazing at first, and then taper off becomming less popular as time goes by, or less powerful if you will...

An example is
Jack White, and Beck, and Alexander the Great...they all achieved alot early on in their careers but tapered off later and never achieved the same status as their initial endeavors...alexander died of course.

Now look at John Denver, Lead singer from REM, Elvis, an other capricorns....they keep climbing and getting bigger against all odds, in fact elvis enjoys more success every successive generation, an almost impossible feat.

This is really strange but definately a pattern I'm noticing...again this isn't like a rule of thumb, these people are exceptions in life, having both luck and skill and fate, but we can measure these absolutes or extremes and see the true essence of the sign...

It's important to note that in no way do cancers become less talented or less potent in terms of skill. It's just in a business sense they don't achieve the same amount of sales later on, just like capricorn goes relatively unnoticed until a certain age.

Elvis for example was a young man when he was noticed, but not tha tyoung, after all, he served in the army first...

Cancer is the archtype of the mother
and Capricorn the father
One is the moon and one is saturn...

so its the moon saturn relationship continuum...maybe cancers are in tune with their emotions more and know what their purpose is, have more courage to follow their passions, where as capricorns needs stability before they move on to that level of emotional comitment.

I do think cancers and Capricorns are very similar in some ways. As a cancer sun, I crave stability and will strive to achieve it. I think not having that stability later in life or stalling would be bad emotionally for cancers. I can't say much about early achievement with cancers because I don't know enough of them. I struggled early in life but kept at it because I expect and want achievement bc it represents money and stability. I'm definitely in tune with my emotions but I think I would need the stability too before a commitment. Both signs are about family and being able to support themselves and loved ones.

Strangely, I've always had a soft spot for Cappy's. Maybe there's a mutual respect for each other.

Naw, he was famous before the Army. That's why they followed him around and took his picture while he was in uniform.

I am a Cancer Sun and Cappy Moon and like neither. I do have tendencies to be a workaholic though but that is only to fund my hobbies and put food on table.

My mom is also a Cancer Sun/Cap Moon.

I can see what you're talking about, Alex. Weird, I didn't know that Jack White is a Cancer, or that John Denver was a Capricorn. I thought he was a Cancer for some reason.

My mom had a lot of success early in her life, well into her fifties, and then it just sort of dwindled (which is sad, because she really does NEED that financial stability and independence). She grew up pretty poor, though.

I think that it's always talked about that Caps tend to gain more as they grow older, in many ways. My step-dad's father is like that. He's well past ninety, and perfectly physically able and coherent.

He worked long and hard as a dairy farmer, and they were quite wealthy but very strict with money and things that they thought were unnecessary. They kind of lived like Amish people.

Debbie Harry is also a Cancer, and there are others that kind of fit what you're describing.

David Bowie, another Capricorn (same birthday as Elvis, even).

Yeah I agree for the most part. I think it takes time for Caps to grow into our self-confidence, whereas Cancers intuitively understand themselves and what they want from a young age. But these signs really do have what the other lacks.. Cancers are more focused on emotional fulfillment and comfort, so they make that a priority, but may find themselves feeling stifled or held back by those priorities down the line. And Caps keep pushing towards our goals no matter what even if we struggle emotionally (and otherwise) early on. Personally I am a little sick of how slow the process can be though, I want stability and success right now god damn it lol

---I agree about cancer`s knowing themselves well and needing the emotional support while they strive for more. I don`t know that cancers know what they want to do early in life as I struggled with that aspect. I`m now coming into realizing what makes me happy (healing) after trying something like law. I think both cap`s and cancers have the same need to succeed in careers and to share that success with someone.

I get feeling that both signs tend to be very hard on themselves as well.

glad to see the feeling is likewise with Caps

Canadiangirl - I too have a thing for cancers. I want to be a rock for them to lay on.

Scorpions scare me.

Violets - thanks for chiming in. I really do believe cancers are in tune emotionally and capricorn a are in tune logically or by the paternal structure. The axis relates moon to Saturn and can be explosive sexually me thinks. As a capricorn it is no coincidence my favorite artists keep turning up as cancers.

Hmm I know a few cancers and they are quite ambitious n driven. They know what they want n they go for it. I can appreciate that.

In terms of career choices I definitely go for stability first. Then I start thinking about pursuing my "passions".

I totally agree that on a basic level both Caps and Cancers want very similar things and genuinely want to be able to share their success with the people closest to them. But I hear you on not knowing exactly what you want to do career wise yet.. I don't know exactly either lol. Did you go to law school? I've considered law too but having a lawyer for a step-mom I've seen what it's really like and have my doubts about the ethics of that profession (Sagittarius moon problems lol)

Anyway, I really do love Cancers. Although when it comes to dating things have usually ended disastrously.. but I do like that Cancer guys can actually make me feel all romantic and mushy. I met a Cancer online recently and am having dinner/drinks with him tonight actually, so idk I'm trying to not be crazy and decide it's not going to work out before getting to know him just because it hasn't in the past with Cancers.. (just incase anyone is interested lol)

--I think sharing with the ones they love may be the `father and mother` side of the two signs. After seeing the nastiness of the field I had to leave. I`m just not that type of person hence taking a job healing people.

Don`t give up on a relationship because you`ve had problems with cancer men in the past. Remember everyone`s charts are different so he may bring in different (and better) aspects and be a great fit for you.

I see, yeah it is pretty cut throat, I don't think I could work in that kind of environment either...

And you're totally right about everyone's chart being different. I've just had a ridiculous pattern of getting involved with Cancer Suns even before I learned about astrology.. The last time I got in way too deep, didn't care about or pay attention to his evasive behavior, (plus Caps can be pretty evasive ourselves) and I ended up getting hurt badly. But with this guy he has at least been very direct in showing interest from the start, so it's so far so good I guess lol

---For me it was such a negative environment that I was really unhappy. I`d rather do something positive with my life. Glad to hear things are going really well with this new relationship! I know how evasive Cancer men can be, I dated one recently.

Yeah that seems to be my biggest problem right now, figuring out a career direction to pursue that will give me the stability I want, but that I also won't hate every second of lol. Can I ask what sort of healing you do? And thanks! I hope his directness continues, but we'll see lol

I do agree with everyone here that Cancers and Capricorns, much like Virgo and Pisces, have similar needs that are expressed differently but seem to meet up in the middle of that opposition.

I find many Capricorns to be very spiritual (think Kahlil Gibran, one of my very favorite Capricorns, and Martin Luther King, Jr.) but yes, with more structure somehow. And I also find Cancers to be very driven regarding work and financial security, but with a different type of intuitive and instinctual approach than Caps.

The energy that drives them seems different but very similar, probably like most (if not all) opposite signs.
