A bad student as in lack of focus and attention towards studies.
Mercury square Jupiter
Mercury opposition Saturn
Uranus & Neptune in THIRD house
I have Libra Mercury and Capricorn 3rd house
I cannot emphasize how much trouble I have when it comes to school. I try so hard to sit down and study/do hw but I always end up day dreaming or losing focus so quickly. It's like if I'm not passionate about something I won't give effort (I'm a scorp moon). Instead, since religion/philosophy and astrology are my passions/interests, I spend my free time researching about them. I wish I had the driven attitude towards school as I have for astrology and philosophy.
What transits can indicate this as well?

I have Neptune and Uranus in 3rd, I found school a waste of time, seeing as half the stuff is non essential for life stuff. I prefer to learn things that apply to me and my life.

If only that's how the education system worked I totally agree with you. Of course education is essential, but to a certain extent where it will be actually useful in life.

Ugh, I feel you.
I have 'good' placements - Sag Mercury in third house conjunct Pluto and sextile Uranus BUT - I get super bored when I have to study stuff I don't find appealing. I'm great at researching but when I have to study, like, for example Chemistry, it bores me so much and I start daydreaming.

Same here, I love researching but I hate studying. I'm taking physics, and all the information goes in one ear and goes out the other.

I NEVER cheat, but I do have a hard time focusing unless I have a genuine personal interest in the subject. I don't have your natal placements either.

How I handle it, is that I just try to work it out where I take as many classes in subject I'm actually interested in as possible. I've gotten most of my requirements for college out of the way so this semester I'm taking only one class I'd rather not take (to boost my gpa), the rest is all "I just REALLY wanna take this".

Of course this sort of thing is easier to pull off in college; if you're in high school you probably just have to get through it the best you can. Don't cheat tho.

lol. So much stuff in your 3H. You must had been a noisy, talkative, rebellious student.

I think focus depends on Moon.

I have a gem moon and ascendant and some neptune aspects which makes me dream a lot. I know where you're coming from with this. The only thing I can suggest is realize where sitting down and working on your homework will take you. You are more likely to do well on tests and exams if you take the time to study. If you do better on exams then you will get higher marks and may qualify for the dean's list.

Also, find a way to study that you will enjoy. You need to find a way that puts you at ease so you can memorize and retain the information. I studied some really heavy stuff by sitting somewhere comfortable, listening to classical music with a relaxing candle near me. It helped me focus and learn the material I needed.

Another technique is study with friends if you're more social. Get a study group together and study and talk about the material.

I was a bad student in high school myself. I couldn't focus and had no interest in school. I realized though, that if I wanted to succeed in life I had to learn the material. I realized by not focusing I couldn't go on to University which I really wanted to do so I forced myself to buckle down. Now, I've graduated from a very good University, succeeded in college and in an interesting career. I have to warn you though, if you go to University you'll develop a great love of learning that follows you for the rest of your life!

It's great to know I'm not alone in a situation like this. I used to always think I was the only one.
