I was reading in one of Isabel hickeys books that aspects to the moon can indicate what type of relationships I can expect (since cancer is 7H cusp ruler)
I have moon square ascendant, mercury, venus and Neptune & then trine mars, saturn and Uranus

Can anyone make sense of this? That a lot of aspects, lol

Also, how can one rise above squares so to speak? I know they're areas where we're challenged to grow

I'm starting to doubt all over again that you CAN "rise above" anything in the chart. The hard aspects are probably just things we're all going to have to continuously work on during the course of our lives. Period. I'm seriously starting to believe that there's no such thing as transcending a chart. It is what it is and you are what you are and what will be will be. I think people who think they've done that just managed to repress, deny, and do a lot of lying to self so that they have blind spots and can't see that they still have the same stuff goin on and are still the same.

As for rising above the squares:

My moon is at the apex of a t-square with Mars and Neptune. Awesome, huh? Fortunately I developed habits early on that integrate the energies of the three planets, without knowing how well the solution matches the astrology. I suppose most people do the same. In my case, I have:

* 11H Gemini Mars...for all its annoyances, it's offered me a linguistic boost, manual dexterity, and some social confidence.
* 8H Pisces moon...depth, some visionary qualities
* 5H Sag Neptune...a sense of fun.

Putting it all together, I feel that I get a lot out of social interaction when I listen well, am real, keeping it both light and serious. Also, drawing and creating beauty in my surroundings has been therapeutic. And of course I'm still working on the riddle of what this t-square means and how I can use it for good, instead of being afflicted by it.

----

Without seeing your chart, it's hard to guess how your aspects will play out. Care to post it in Personal Readings? I'll check there and will tell you my amateur opinion, if you post there.

LMAO!

Like I said...people NEVER "rise above" their squares anymore than they can make themselves taller, or make suddenly make their hair grow out of their scalp neon pink.

I think people want to FEEL they have more control over things than they actually do, but I think people are just fundamentally hard-wired to be a certain way. Astrology shows you the wiring. Now, in your own head you can try and spin the bad wiring and call it positive but no matter what label you stick on it, it's still something you're going to have to contend with for the rest of your life.

And this is coming from someone with plenty of nasty squares in my chart. I have no problem calling it what it is. I have no illusions about "transmuting" or "rising above" them. I'm like 'this is just where I suck, everybody has an area where they suck'. Period.

I would feel hesitant with the idea of rising above or transcending one's chart, as we are what we are and fire can't be water; thought I also believe that one can learn to work the conflicting energies out and redirect it to something productive. For example, a Moon/Mars square person can work the temper out by learning martial arts (not to beat people up but to work out his/her own aggressive energy into something more disciplined and redirected).

I have a t-square in the natal chart and a square, they are still both in work lol, thought I also have quincunxes and semisextile elements, and I feel like there are two sides of me sometimes. I either learn how to integrate these sides, or simply allow myself to let it manifest in crisis. Well I've been able to integrate them somehow.

We are what we are, the wiring is always there, thought we can understand and integrate each part and work things out better.

I believe we can and do rise above our squares at certain times depending on the situations and in other situations, we struggle. The squares are in the natal chart to give us certain life experiences but just like anyone who knows nothing about astrology, it's how we react to those life experiences that will demonstrate whether we are able to learn from them and grow (or integrate them).

moonstruck87, I would suggest learning to integrate those energies which will take time, probably past your Saturn return, so between 27-28 years. That way, instead of seeing these traits in your relationships, you can make sure you're not just projecting or attracting to yourself relationships of the same issues you need to integrate yourself.

Let's start from the beginning
All aspects to the Moon (and Venus) show the relationship you were born into with your Mother.
Talk about being hard wired, these are traits learned from the very beginning from the Mother, they describe the Mothers influence and teachings.
You can overcome and master Squares, this is part of the process you go through to evolve.
There are some squares like to Uranus that happen to you and you have no control over they describe how you deal with such aspects.
