If that's the case why is my gemini mars@29.33 retrograde, progressed to gemini@15...when I'm 38?

My friend has a gemini mars@4, they are 40 and their progressed mars is in cancer, shouldn't mine be in taurus by now?

Great question! I also wonder how fast different planets progress. I thought they had differing speeds..

That is because your retrograde mars progresses at a retrograde motion.
At 38, your progressed chart is like someone born 38 days after your actual birthdate. Check the ephemerides at www.astro.com to see when mars turned direct.

As far as I know there are 2 types of progressions for your chart. One is if you are 38 now then you calculate the birth chart 38 days after you were born and that's the chart for that year of life.

Another way is that your ascendent is said to move 1-2 degrees per year. So if you can calculate (by perhaps feeling) where your ascendent falls then you can move all the planets over an equivalent amount of degrees as the ascendent. So if your ascendent progressed 5 degrees from your natal chart then all of your planets would move 5 degrees clockwise. This would be the position of the planets just minutes after your birth.

*note* you move the planets clockwise 5 degrees through the houses, not through their degrees in the signs. so they dont change degrees on the zodiac but they may progress into different houses

Wouldn't his go back and forth also with the changing motions of mars?
If mine does I would assume everyone's does? His has moved at least 30 degrees in 43 years, mine has moved 14 in 38 years? I don't understand how that's possible? I'll look at the motions and see if it's possibly correct to have that huge difference?
He was born in 70, I was born in 75!

I know the transits are at different speeds, it does seem the progressions move at unique speeds also, I know Pluto doesn't change and it seems jupiter barely moves to but I'm not as familiar with progressions as I'd like to be!

Interesting thanks, I'll try those progressions! I've always just ran the progression chart through astro.com, but your sound interesting!

Solar arc moves one degree every year. My progressed ascendant still hasn't moved out of Scorpio, which is weird - It started in Scorpio, natally, and I'm 38. Shouldn't it have been in Sadge by now?

Lol....ya, you would think so!! I just really don't get the progressions I guess?

My libra AC@8.44 is now scorpio@9.18 and I just turned 38 in nov? (30 degrees)
Venus libra@19 is now saggy@3 (44 degrees)
Sun saggy@4 is now cap@13 (40 degrees)
Merc saggy@3 is now aqua@2 (59 degrees)
Neptune has moved from saggy@11 to saggy@12

I guess it's just the speed of the planets but I wish I understood how it was calculated?
But your Ascendant is moving slower than mine? Isn't that odd?

It is odd. I've been waiting for it to change for at least six years. It's stuck at 29'41* Scorpio. So 0.19 degrees to go.

You still have sixteen years to go until your Mars goes Direct.

You may have a few years Stationary around that time.

Don't know about the Ascendant, I'm looking at an Ephemeris.

Couple of other Planets turn in the meantime and it is a Julian Black Moon, but I don't count the manmade calendar, only the Celestial TimeClock.

Sun moves 1 degree each year

Moon moves through one entire sign in 2 years.

Asc Mc Dsc And Ic all move 1 degree each year as well

Mercury Venus Mars all move slower and can take years to move through a sign.If any of them are Retrograde your likely to never have it progress into a different sign unless it's near the end of a sign or early on in a sign.

Jupiter moves a good few degrees and can move into a sign if close to the end when moving at it's fastest...Or if at an early degree in a sign if retro forget it.

Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto move so slow they barely even move a degree in a lifetime.

The node can move several degrees and even shift a sign if really early or towards the end of a degree.

Hmmmm, maybe im being dense here but I'm missing something?
How does my natal Mars change directions when I was born under retrograde?
If it does change direction how do you know when it does because it must not follow the transits direction, mars isn't going to retrograde for 16 years it's not even retrograde now?
Thanks for taking the time to look at this with me, I've never found an explanation on this!

It's basically very simple to pull out an Ephemeris and count out the Progressions.

Think of it as a basic Winding of the Clock.

The first thirty days represent your first thirty years. I can see at a glance the Ebb & Flow of Planetary Direction your existence will take.

Of course, your reactions to these things will define your future, or even the present to a certain extent.

Since Mars was in a backward motion at the time of your birth, the Degree got less. It will continue to do so for another sixteen years, then it will retrace those steps going forward.

The Planets stand still for a bit, so there will be a few years at that time that Mars will be at it's most powerful.

Oh, I think I get it, so mars was retrograde or stationary for quite awhile after I was born!!
If I was born on the 27th, it was hanging around not going direct very much for nearly 54 days after I was born?
So right now I'm 38 years into my life, but progressed astrology shows I'm 38 days into it!

i think everyones chart progresses differently. it depends how strongly your mind is attached to the position of your chart. maybe your chart is benefitting you more to stay in scorpio and not sagitarrious. im 22 and my chart has moved 45 degrees although you may not believe that.
