I have never felt anything for this house, though it's my dominant house (sun, mercury, juno and mars in 4th house)

I'm not really a loner, stay-at-home-type, or love to cook
I have no specially or close relationship to my family, and have no "national" feeling or something… I don't have anything to do with the history of my country, my roots or family…actually I'd likely move away someday because of my job. It's not that I hate my country but I just feel totally indifferent about it.

I don't really wan't children either, not the next 10 years or so and I'm 24. I don't want them because the moment you got children your life changes and you cannot do what you want anymore.

I think my personal freedom means a lot more to me than being related closely to someone. I thought maybe the 4th house would make you want to be stuck up with something? Like getting married too early and getting too many children you cannot handle, or being a bit too religious just because your family was that way and so on.

I think somehow the 4th house got totally misunderstood and is actually about something completely else than just "loving my home, my baby and to make food".

What do you think?

I also have a heavily-tenanted 4th house, (Mars, Juno, Venus, Mercury and Neptune), and on scoping about online, found that this take on the 4th house really resonated with me:

What you are thinking is pretty normal at 24.

Do you feel any transits going by?
Are you comfortable with what you have described or you secretly long for 4th house things.
I have 4th house moon and I for years, I thought families have to be perfect like how they show in movies and my family was actually quiet dysfunctional.I have started accepting it. I like to have my own house and owned property when I was 18 but never lived in it single day. For very long I took national identity and everything for granted as I am about to leave it I seemed to be more worried about those things.

A peanut chocolate bar - is not about the peanuts alone.
What I'm trying to say is - there are more aspects worth taking in consideration - for a proper conclusion. In this case - even astrological aspects - if house 4 has some dominant planets in there and your feelings are opposite to that - those planet might be afflicted. Then there's a matter of the other planets even major ones (like Moon and Venus) - and their placement.

Moon - shows our emotional nature
Venus - shows what we love/like
Saturn - shows what we struggle with
Neptune - show where we daydream

The Sun is not that strong in 4'th House - that's where the moon feels at home. And if it's afflicted or has some aspects with Saturn, the Moon or Uranus - you might a hard time with family type of feelings (Saturn/Moon) or even a form of rebellion against that (Uranus) - just some examples.

I can’t relate to them either. My Sun, Mercury, Mars, Venus and Saturn are in 4th house. All of them are afflicted except Venus, which is right at the end of the house, so it feels more like a 5th house Venus. I’m a loner though. IC is the lowest point in the chart, so the energy of 4th house planets might not be visible in the surface, but it’s an angular house, so IDK .

Are you career-oriented? Maybe you’ve moved towards the opposite house to get away from your 4th house stellium.

my take on the IC especially.

"You could picture the chart with the houses-wheel as an image of the day with the Sun making his circle.

When the Sun is rising, it will be on the ASC (actually this means that if we have planets in the 1st house, they are still in the dark, because they are BEFORE The rising of the sun, as the sun moves from ASC to MC to DC to IC; it also explains why planets in the 1st house are not always very conscious, but very instinctual).

However, if the Sun is high up in the sky, it will be at the MC.

Now, when the Sun has reached the IC it is midnight.
Midnight. What does this word, that time of day trigger inside you? What characteristic does this time have?
It is dark outside, everyone is asleep, hopefully you, too, so then this is the time where the unconsciousness reigns, the deeper layers of your soul through your dreams.

Or you may be awake, but chances are high, you are the only one. You are alone with yourself, without any distractions of the day. You come face to face with yourself, the naked you. And this time of the day feels "strange"; even bio-chemical something changes. The parasympathetic nervous system takes over from the sympatheic nervous system of the day.
It makes you calm down and "draws you inside yourself" so to speak.

If you`re not alone at that time, chances are also good, that you might have amazing sex or deep profound conversations that take a very private intimate turn.
Often you don´t want to know about that anymore in the next morning, because you have been so naked at that time (emotionally and physically maybe).

However, deep in the night,w hen the Sun is on the IC (and not seen!), you will only let those people in, who are real close to you. You won`t get a visit by the postman or the neighbour at that time of night.
No superficial contacts

You can see it like this, The Sun has disappeared, and the Moon reigns. Moon as the ruling planet of the 4th house, which begins with the IC!
And Moon represents emotions, feelings, not like the romantic ones, which are often a "Venus-thing", a DC-thing (about 7 p.m, when you start meeting your friends and potential lovers).
No, I`m talking of emotions in the sense of really touching you inside your soul.
In that respect Moon and IC are pretty much the same.

Also Robert Blashke stated that the closest soulmates will always ALWAYS without exception have either conjunctions or solstice-conjunctions to their IC."

I too think it's BS But apart from Mercury I have also Uranus and BML there, maybe that's why. I'm introverted (the majority of my planets are in the lower half though), rather private and I dream of a house or an apartment I could decorate (this is probably my Libra Moon) and equip with all I need. I'd be also glad to work from home. That's it.

I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.

Great reply Ceri. Just to add a bit more to that, I have always found 4th house to be the area of life relating to your psychological foundations and sense of belonging. It is much more than your physical home and family, in the same way that the 2nd house is much more than your material possessions (it is also about what is of value to you on mental/emotional/spiritual levels).

So, with a prominent 4th house you may find someone who is very interested in "getting to the bottom of things", plumbing their own psychological underpinnings, trying to figure out what gives them a sense of true belonging, finding their soul family, their unique "promised land" (they might dream about what their perfect home, community, land, planet would be like), the kind of evironment that makes them feel connected, rooted and "at home". Self knowledge is key to these people, together with a desire to explore their inner nature and to create an environment in which they can connect with others in order to achieve a sense of emotional belonging and security. This might (depending on the individual) have nothing to do with a physical house or country, or blood relatives. Home is really where the heart is.

4th house people make great psychologists, detectives and investigators because they know what makes people (including themselves) tick.

I think fourth gives you some power because it's angular. It is a mysterious place most think of the sign Cancer, home. patriotism and personalizing. Do you prefer a personal environment rather than impersonal?

If you search you will find how this house shows up in you life. It's more than just apple pie, cooking, quilting, and singing patriotic songs.

I feel the same way! I have the majority of my planets in the 4th house and I don't come from a large family, it's just my parents and myself, so once they perish, it'll be just be me. I'm also gay, so having children is not something I want to do, and the path to having them is a lot cloudier because of that.

Yet everything about this house talks about family and children and roots and the importance of all three, and it's so frustrating. It's like the forgotten house.

Wow, this is so good. I agree with everything! (Neptune,Moon, North Node conjunct IC, Saturn in 4th)

My ex-soulmate's NN conjunct my IC in Scorpio. I guess that was part of the intensity.

(Oh and my name asteroid exactly on his NN...icing on the cake! LOL)

Nice reply, ceridwin, you always got something intelligent to say!
But I need to understand what is the IC? And what is a conjunction to the IC?
I have sun in 4th house and ascendant is cancer, so that means my dominant planet is also the moon, which is in pisces.

But both my sun, mars, moon, mercury, and neptune is afflicted.
And my moon is in the 10th house (is on midheaven right?)
Maybe that is why I don't feel connected to those traditional feelings.
Also my moon squares uranus, so I actually really hate everything that feels a bit too much like everything else on earth. I like feelings, relations, and my home to be very original.

I have virgo in 4th house, so it is mercury. And mercury is in libra in 4th house,
Sun virgo = ruler is mercury?
Mercury libra = ruler is venus?
Mars virgo = ruler is mercury? Don't know if I understood correctly

My IC is in Gemini and it's an empty house. Gemini there made my family life unstable, we were travelling a lot as a family, my parents are divorced and I've moved to many houses and places/countries.Funny thing is that both 4th & 7th house ruler is Mercury, since I have 4th house cusp in Gemini and 7th house cusp in Virgo. My Mercury is placed in the 12th house. What should I expect?

Ceri, I'm making a thread off your comment about the angles and planets
You know I love to write...so I wrote a lil story about the signs and planets as they go through the houses, it's just a day in astrological life! It's stupid but kind of funny!
Lol....I hope you like it!
