I think Uranus/ASC people are more outwardly rebellious / independent. They come across that way much more than Sun/Uranus folks and may have a pretty abrasive speech / behavior.

Sun/Uranus are more unconventional in their beliefs but may not stand out from the crowd that much. When you first meet them you may not really see the Uranus in them. It only becomes apparent once you come closer to that person, and they feel comfortable expressing themselves in a genuine way.

Both will get pegged as super-unique and unconventional but honestly I don't buy it. My sister has the sun conjunction and is extremely mainstream in personality and beliefs and aesthetics, she's not some oddball revolutionary maverick at all.

Neither are any of the people I've known with Uranus conjunct the ascendant. They've all been super-conformist.

I'm gonna go so far as to say the stuff that they get pegged with is truer of Uranus conjunct the MC than it is of them. I know cuz I have Uranus conjunct the MC and my sister and most other people with Uranus on other angles, don't even like to hang out with me because they think I'M weird. So there you go.
