You have an internal struggle between your needs and your wants. You can lack focus and be indecisive as a result. Your ability to be objective is both an asset and a liability, simply because when you decide on one route, you are pulled in another direction at the same time. Something tugs at you, and you begin to question your stance. "But what if..." and "on the other hand..." are statements you can't help but make, and that might plague you. You are always aware of the opposing point of view and the other side of the coin

Are you at odds with your self? My sun and moon is trine so I don't know how it feels

I am very self-critical.. Aries Sun square Cap Moon... but my self-criticism is constructive. I feel like it's easy to spot problem areas and self-improve!

The square is a bit like you're always striving and working at bettering yourself.
The trine/conjunction is more like you're relaxed and a bit conceited, so you don't feel like you need to improve - you just enjoy life.

& I'm not very indecisive, although I don't make decisions on a whim either.
I could see people with the mutable square being more indecisive.

Always second guessing myself? Yes that description seems accurate.

I have the Sun/Moon square in mutable signs (Virgo/Gemini). I don't lack focus at all but I can be indecisive -looking at all viewpoints before coming to a 'final answer'.

To begin with a Sun/Moon square describes your parents relationship when you were born.
It also shows that your core (Sun) is at odds with your emotions. (Moon)

I have that and I am really not indecisive: it is more like "does my heart really want this?"

It's not something I would want, to be honest. Especially fixed signs.
