You can post your favourite story in a movie or a book or simply make-up your very own 'perfect' love storyline.. lol The thread in Soul Unions (re: movies about forbidden love) got me thinking about how different we are and how we all have different love-scripts inside our little heads I noticed a handful of people on the thread really liked the 'forbidden love' theme (e.g. Romeo & Juliet) - although I have to say I am not that into it. This got me wondering about people's Venus placement and aspects - and the kind of storyline they would truly be happy with... A story they would feel is the "perfect" scenario for them.. A story that can make them gush all over the TV or cinema screen - wide-eyed, totally enwrapped - thinking "OMG I wish that was me!!!" I'll go first! There are a few stories and movies that come to mind - but I have to choose this one ("Jeux d'enfants") because I was completely entertained from start to finish - and I loved how totally strange and different their relationship was. There is something about the insanity factor I really liked. They are friends - as well as "lovers" - although they are never truly lovers.. in a traditional sense. I can see why this is so attractive to my Venus in the 11th and conj NN. The whole relationship is insane. They keep daring each other to do outlandish things. I love the trust factor in knowing that they love each other no matter what, over the span of decades - (to the exclusion of everyone else).. I guess that appeals to the Capricorn in me... but at the same time I love that they are not actually "together"--- because I'm not a fan of 'same ol'/'same ol' relationships. The tragic ending (for those who have seen it).. appeals to my Venus/Pluto opposition! "Jeux d'enfants"/"Love me if you dare" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Me_If_You_Dare

Les Amours Imaginaires (Heart Beats)seem to really appeal to Venus in Gemini It's about friendship between 3 friends which turns into a lot of jealousy and sexual tension LOL Here's a clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roLmFo3rWYc#t=11 The cinematography is fresh and music is orgasmic, so that helps too. I am a sucker for menage a trois Another film which I enjoy is Dreamers.. Btw I like diffcult endings (with no one dying) plot may end in a sour note but still that does not mean that it's over for them. As long as they are alive there will be something brewing. I like to think a vague ending patterns my own relationships, I'm too cynical for happy endings and deaths are just too emo for me (I lack pluto) IP: Logged |

and to reiterate why I don't like happy endings because they are so contradicting..Romance movies have some obstacle or circumstance which they have to face. It's usually no walk in the park because lets face it two people dating for a year and getting married is pretty normal and uninteresting for a story. In love stories the price of a happy endings is sacrificing everything else jus to be with that person. This totally is like a slap in the face for real people who have their own obstacles. Cause apparently when you're in love it's romantic not think about yourself too? I guess the only romantic option is to kill yourself or just sign off your life... Anyways you can tell why I avoid fictional love stories LOL. If anything I enjoy reading about real love stories cause I think it's interesting to hear about others decisions. IP: Logged |

~THE NOTEBOOK~ This scene here I love the passion: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f2OnuryBdM
And this shows the ULTIMATE love: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaD5iwUHSqM Venus Taurus in 8th. What appeals to me most about this love story is how PASSIONATE they were about each other. They were committed 1000% and they DIED together w/ the same love they began with. Deep sh*t !!! Venus *trine* Mars loves how totally NATURAL their chemistry was. Venus *sextile* Jupiter loves the playfulness & joy they experienced as a couple. Real stuff! Just love it! IP: Logged |

the notebook is a good example in a smart love story because it brings all the drama passion with out wrapping its self up in a gift little box or just ending with a random tragedy. Everything sort of all resolves later in their life.. but the dying in each others arms part... like okayyy I guess they are old :sIP: Logged |

I don't care for the Romeo & Juliet formula either (there was a Tromeo parody that made me laugh, however)...with the notable exception of Underworld (Death Dealer vampire honed to kill werewolves and the werewolf that was to be her most important kill was the one she betrayed everything she believed in to save and love) but it could be the mix of mystery mixed with some exotic fashions (from classic goth to cyberpunk) as well as betrayals born of divided loyalties that were painfully explored (probably appeals to my Scorpio Cusp Libra), and some creative twists also helped. And my Sag seemed to enjoy just how, er, violent the Death Dealer was, like she doesn't enter a library like any sane person, she KICKS THE DOOR DOWN (maybe she doesn't know how to use doorknobs). Or it could be that my favorite ones involve survival, one in which both play a part (Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane and White Oleander are two examples). These tend to have romance as part of the story rather than the actual genre. However, the Hunger Games counts as this, and this, from the book, explains my own attraction to them: "That what I need to survive is not Gale’s fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that. So after, when he whispers, 'You love me. Real or not real?' I tell him, 'Real.'" – Mockingjay (Hunger Games), by Suzanne Collins 'Course some might not know given my offbeat Sag (and gallows) humor, like saying if Peeta is the boy with the bread and Katniss is the girl on fire then putting them together makes toast." (I've heard quite a few people say things like that, so it's not just me.) But anyway, Underworld has an element of that which may be why I liked it. I can be a sucker for "don't bet on it" cute when I'm in the mood, but it's strictly for cuteness sake. Stardust was wonderful though it was classic romance genre which I generally don't care for, perhaps because of the character growth of BOTH of them and because it ties into surviving together as described above (wicked witches, Machiavellian princes, flying ships with a crossdressing pirate, etc, all help). Still, the ending didn't appeal to me, being a king & queen, even in a fairy kingdom, sounds remarkably boring & tedious to me, which is probably my Sag talking. Though it would be okay if it were say a FLYING castle... IP: Logged |

12th house cap venus.Hmmm there's this "romantic" movie that I like. The story unfolded gently. The two main characters were people with complicated histories, they met and through small, simple interactions and sometimes "flashbacks", the audience can see how their past influenced their views on love and life. The movie ended with those two sitting next to each other quietly. I like the way the two characters handled their emotions and budding romantic feelings. Very "light". I like that it wasn't a "you're my saviour" kinda movie, although the "romance" affected their life in a "positive" way. Another one I like is the movie "Come rain, come shine". A couple spent the last day together before the wife moved out to live with another man. The husband helped her pack. IP: Logged |

I can't think of any specific examples right now, but I like love stories where there's lots of yearning (and a slow build up) till something dramatic, and perhaps drastic happens, and brings the story finally to a climax. And I like happy endings. Even if there's a bunch of torment before that eventually happens. I also like it if the two leads are very different people, that you wouldn't expect to end up together, but somehow the actually compliment each other, and balance each other out. Maybe one of them is really hardcore and intense, while the other one is cheerful and 'light', or maybe one is reserved and cautious, while the other one is outgoing and carefree. I like to see that each of them has their own distinctive personality, but that for some reason they just 'click', and they have amazing chemistry. Like magic, they create something better together then either could have alone. They compliment each other with their differences. In my chart I have a major opposition across my 1st house/7th house. Jupiter in the 7th is opposite Venus in the 1st, and they are both semi-squared/sesquiquadrated by Uranus (Zing!). Maybe that's why I have a thing for oddly matched couples. Uranus especially tends to do this. Interestingly, I have Aries on the 5th house cusp and Venus in the 1st house. 1st house/Aries relates to ‘personality’ and so maybe that’s why I like characters who are distinctive, and know who they are (whatever type of personality they may have). As well, I have a Gemini Dsc which loves good communication. So I also like it when even though the leads temperaments/style may be different, they have excellent intellectual compatibility, and can really talk, and understand each other. They ’get’ each other. In fiction I enjoy epic sci fi and fantasy adventure type storylines (I have definate 'nerd' potential in that regard). Modern and histoical dramas, certain types of romantic comedies (especially the quirky ones), and psychological thrillers can be good too. The things that really count with me are…. That the storyline is intriguing and clever, the characters are distinctive fascinating people, the dialogue good, the setting is beautiful, and the leads are attractive (shallow I know, but this is fiction we’re talking about here). Forbidden love type scenario’s can be enjoyable, but I dislike ones that glorify affairs and cheating like it’s something ’romantic’ (especially if one of the leads is married). Love triangles are alright so long as there is a long build up and then a choice is made. If the centre of a love triangle keeps swapping partners it starts to feel really icky to me. I actually like it better if both partner’s are single at the beginning of the story (or maybe just out of a breakup), and then they meet. If a love story is crafted well It’s possible to keep excitement and suspense in the plot without resorting to a series of partner swaps in order to keep things interesting. I really admire when the creator of a storyline is able to do this. I like when the love story is really only part of a larger scale storyline that is fascinating in it’s own right. There’s got to be more going on then just romantic intrigues in a story (unless it’s a really short one, or a ‘slice of life’ type story). Yes, give me exciting twists and turns, suspense, some humor, an undertone of yearning/longing, interesting social dynamics surrounding the story, and a final climax/crisis which ultimately gives a satisfying result (happy ending). This might be politically incorrect, but I like it when the female lead is feminine and wholesome, while the guy is strong and assertive. I also like it when the relationship that the story centers on actually has significance and meaning to the lead character/s. As in, there's not an ‘easy come, easy go’ type attitude to the connection. At least, the character whose point of view we are seeing should be really emotionally invested. The more invested the leads are, the higher the stakes of the plot, and the more stratifying the end is. Luke-warm is boring. It's better if it's all or nothing, intense. Another thing I like is something I think of as a ‘Vertex story’…. Two people meet, they instantly recognize each other without words, and suddenly develop a connection. Actually getting together could happen soon after, or ages after their fateful encounter through a series of plot twists (depends on the type of fiction it is). But it is a defining moment for them upon meeting (at least for one of them, the other might be oblivious at first), and in their private hearts they know who they really want to be with all along. My Vertex Axis is on the Taurus/Scorpio opposition with Uranus conjunct my Antivertex, opposite my Vertex. Ya know, I only meant to write a few sentences and somehow this spiraled. Sagittarius Rising Capricorn Sun, 1st house Cancer Moon, 8th house Sagittarius Venus, 1st house Mars in Leo, 9th house Jupiter in Cancer, 7th house Saturn in Virgo, 9th house Uranus in Scorpio, 11th house Neptune in Sagittarius, 12th house Pluto in Libra, 11th house IP: Logged |
