I've been reading up on the houses, signs on the cusps of houses, house rulers, etc., and came across something interesting. I have my ascendant at 17 degrees Libra, while my Pluto is in Scorpio at 12 degrees, with Pluto in my 1st House. I've read that the first house can explain characteristics anywhere from energy, appearance, and your social preferences (how introverted or extroverted you are)--however, I have also read that, while Libra is an ideal placement for the Ascendant, it is actually a bit weaker and can be repressed, allowing the First House traits to dominate if they are stronger in nature. Since my Pluto is in Scorpio, and in my 1st, would I be more Plutonian/Scorpionic, or would it be more of a blending of the two placements? Supposedly, for this setup, this type of person would seem more like a Scorpio, and less, if not at all, like a Libra rising. Are there other instances where house placements can overpower signs in houses? Are they at odds, or more of a blend? Power struggle between the two/lack of balance? Internal strife? What is your ascendant, and what planet/planets are in your first house and how do they affect you? IP: Logged |

Your first house is yourself, who you are. You probably view yourself as a combination of libra and scorp: nice, diplomatic but dislike dishonesty. As for other things, aspects to ascendant also change how you appear or think. I have neptune trine ascendant from 9th and people think I look Piscean. I am Taurus Asc with empty 1st. I'm not a professional astrologer but based on my experiences, when planets are in a house, the energy is more raw and less blended to your awareness if that makes sense. I have pluto in 7th and I didn't notice my plutonic energy until reading astrology on my placement My mom has scorp rising with neptune in the first and she views herself as a typical scorp rising. But that neptune really confuses her about who she is, and I don't think she noticed it. IP: Logged |

Exactly! Honesty is VERY important. I'm kind & courteous but am also tough in many ways. You can tell me anything. I'll always encourage you to look beyond the surface, to dig deeper. @IvAstro I'm also Libra ASC w/ Pluto in the 1st. It all adds such great layers to our personality. That's how I see it! Embrace the fabulosity! IP: Logged |

Thanks for the insightful replies. So it would be something that would be noticed more by others, than say, yourself, as it wouldn't be quite as apparent, consciously. I agree with the whole nice, diplomatic, hates lying for this placement... Me to the letter. IP: Logged |

I also agree with myself having Pluto conjunct Ascendant in libra. It may depend on other placements also though. I hate lying, etc. But at the same time I may not be very nice. IP: Logged |

I have Jupiter zero degrees from the ascendant, separating and I am no where near 500 pounds lol. It is literally right on my Libra ascendant and I see myself as someone who is very keen on being treated fairly. Whenever I am not treated like others, it is very apparent to me and I get upset. I am all for equality. Libran principles are very close to my heart. Social justice, fairness, equality, kindness, beauty inside and out, nice people, all very important to me.IP: Logged |
