My mercury is unaspected, his mercury is opposing my pluto and asc

Is this bad for communicating?

Have you checked your declinations? Parallels and contraparallels can make up for a lack of major aspects, as can minor aspects for that matter. Mercury contacting Chiron or Eros could be helpful too. Also, check to see if his Mercury aspects your Sun-Moon MP or vice versa. Even a trine is significant, personally I'd prefer it to a hard aspect.

Mercury conjunct Descendant is in my opinion a nice aspect to have, it should make him your intellectual type. Assuming it's in tight orb, Mercury opposite Pluto should give your a strong psychological connection, although he may feel mentally controlled by you.

IMO having your Mercury unaspected is not great, even a hard aspect would offer a method of communication. I tend to think any aspect is better than no aspect. Although I've found Mercury hard aspect more difficult to deal with than any other type of aspect so perhaps they're the exception.

But I think that if the rest of your synastry is strong you should be able to work through it. It's just something to be aware of. Also, check your composite, if Mercury plays a strong role and especially if it's conjunct your composite Sun or Moon your communication will likely improve over time.

Sorry if any of this is redundant, I just wanted to cover all the bases.

You could also check aspects between rulers of your 3rd house to his placements.

My 3rd is capricorn my saturn trines his NN and sextiles his saturn which conjunct my sun, how about it?

I also have a question about our moon signs they are both in air mine gemini and his in aquarius but they are not aspected to eachother (but to other planets) moons in same element and 'compatible' but not aspected to eachother will it lose the bond or is there still this compatibility or how does it work?

saturn conjunct sun is very good, cause it will make a long lasting bond between you!
And moon in same element without aspect is still very fine, cause your energy is just compatible and you will feel that at some point…

Yeah Saturn conjunct sun can be extremely binding whether you want it to be or not lol. In my experience, I've had mercury unaspected twice in synastry with me as the mercury, and both times I felt like communication had to be on their terms, and they didn't necessarily respect what I had to say in any given situation lol... But I agree you have to look at the synastry as a whole. If you feel like things are going well I wouldn't worry too much about this one aspect

Also what sign is your mercury? Mine is Sag and there were lots of disagreements about our general world views, religion, etc...
