It seems like people respect authenticity, if a musician is more street it's expected they grew up in that lifestyle otherwise they are just following a trend and it does not represent their actual lifestyle and background.

I saw people arguing claiming this artist grew in an upper middle class family, some people were in denial because their whole image (MC) is now diminished, it seems they gain respected just because of the qualities of their IC.

People say that background does not really matter but a lot credence is given to background and the amount of respect you receive from certain classes.
