Ok I've always wanted to hear opinions on the whole Cancer/Cap gender issue. Cap is technically considered a feminine sign, but also represents the "father figure" of the zodiac while Cancer is the mother figure. So obviously one would think it's easier to deal with for male Caps and female Cancers?? Can the role reversal ever really work?

I have both and think it's safe to say I've had issues with gender and used to really dislike my Cancer Asc since it doesn't accurately represent my Cap sun at all. Basically I look and come off as ultra feminine, and used to be really uncomfortable with that and even saw it as a "weakness". I have SN and Chiron in Cancer 1st house so there were issues growing up with being singled out from my appearance (which I won't get into).. Although now I'm really starting to actually embrace the paradox. I can play both roles, which turns out can be kind of empowering lol

Sorry this is kind of a general topic but just curious to hear opinions and experiences

It's very interesting
I'm cap dominant, but also have a cancer ascendant and cancer jupiter. And I come of as ultra feminine, also because I'm a virgo sun and pisces moon. People tell me that I look like a princess because of my hair, or that I look like a royal person from the 17th century lol.
But I don't feel feminine inside at all, and I am actually kind of masculine and likes to be that way… I also got sun conjunction mars, so I can be kind of aggressive as well!
I've always been a bit fascinated of transexuals, and androgynes, because they wear my issue on their sleeves…
I don't mind being a girl, but sometimes I actually wish I was born a boy, cause my life would have been so easier:P

Just to fuel the contradiction:
The moon is my dominant planet
Afterwards comes Saturn (capricorn saturn)

And I also have a tight chiron conjunction ascendant (Chiron is also in cancer)
And a stellium in 4th house…

Lol yeah I completely understand!! People have always said I'm so "sweet" and pretty.. My parents/basically my mom put me in pageants when I was young (explains a lot probably lol) but I resented it.

If anything irl I'm most comfortable with homosexual males and also kind of fascinated with transsexuals, androgynous people, etc.

With cancer asc conjunct chiron.. to be really blunt I basically have really big boobs for my body type, and was singled out for that when younger. As in, I would be wearing a regular shirt that showed no cleavage but would still get in trouble for being too "provocative". Hence a lot of my issues with sl*t shaming and that sort of thing lol

I have cancer descendant and cancer chiron pretty much oppose my cap stellium. I don't really like playing the damsel in distress or the mother, but yeah I have my soft side.

Being small in stature n appearing "soft n feminine" sometimes makes certain people perceive me as weak or incapable of doing things. Also, I have a problem with being told to act a certain way or do certain things because of my gender, but I guess that is something that can annoy a lot of people. Geez once I was fixing my bed n a person made a remark of how I shouldn't do things like that coz "You're a girl" and I found it hard to ever take that person seriously again.

I hear you on the boob thing, mine aren't big but I developed early so geez it was tough. Now I look at mine and I'm like bla I wouldn't mind going through cr*p <again> for a pair of DDs lolol

Hmmm.

I have a Capricorn Sun with a strong Saturn in my chart, and Moon and Jupiter in Cancer. I think of myself as a firm in some ways (I fulfill my obligations, and do what I'm supposed to do), but soft in others (at times I'm feel vulnerable and sensitive). Gender never came into it though. I definitely feel feminine in nature, even though I have a determined streak.

Lol! I have the opposite issue, I am a cancer sun with capricorn ascendant. People always think im cold and stern like some strict authoritarian person when really i'm just a cuddly crab that wants to feed people and be all sweet. It makes it hard when people see you as this stoic or unemotional being when you want to be all cute with them. awkward.

I am female and I also have a lot of people think that I am much more masculine or competitive then I am, although mars in aries a wide square to my ascendant may also play into that, i've had a lot of guys become interested in me because they think i'm this cool tomboy type and then come to realize im a fluffy lil girl that wants to have picnics and hold kitties. :

Haha lol you poor cancer!
Chiron conjunct asc also indicates bullying… makes perfect sense about what, when it's in cancer

I wouldn't say I have issues with gender on a personal level. I feel feminine and have always been perceived as such. What I do, and did take issue to when I was growing up was the notion that feminine = weak.

I was fascinated by tomboys as a kid despite not being one myself. My mom loved to dress me up in cutesy clothing and dresses/skirts, which I began to protest to as I got older. Interestingly enough, she also entered me in pageants when I was a baby and I did some modeling as a child (which I hated, but for a different reason.)

I think I feel this polarity as being able to go back and forth. Today I'm wearing a skirt and I'm presenting myself as feminine but tomorrow I may wear flannel and Converse. I feel soft yet stern, nurturing and protective.

Wow, this is completely like me, and our charts have many similarities I think… I still hate the color pink though, and never wears it, even though I know it's a bit silly, but thats just too feminine for me now… through the years I've begun to only wear feminine cloths though, like skirts and dresses, and let my hair grow long, so now I look even more feminine, but I like the attention I get from males haha!

Haha, pink was my favorite color as a child but once I hit my teen years I started to hate it. Now I'm at a point where I like certain shades of it. Lately I've become more feminine. Just a few years ago, I didn't own any dresses or skirts. :P

Nothing in Cappy, but my Mars is in Cancer. I'm not girly at all, and I dislike it when people say that you MUST be feminine if you're a girl, and I dislike girly-girls. So in that sense the paradox could be that I'm female but I just don't LIKE women. I find them vindictive, petty, feeble-minded and stupid.

And silly.

And just...lame.

Omfg yes Pink is the stupidest color in the entire world. Everytime I log onto this forum I cringe and wonder when they're gonna redo the color scheme lol.

Of course you don't have to be feminine just because you're female, just like you don't have to be a misogynist.

0 degrees Cap nn- Cancer SN

Yeah I have both feminine and masculine qualities but I feel neutral or sexless from all the mercury energy.

I was rather on the feminine side growing up lol.
LOL my mom still brings up how gentle and nurturing I was.
She would be taking night classes and would be sleeping during the day on the pull out mattress keeping an eye on me while I would be tucking her in and asking her if she needs anything every five minutes and making her mud pies and what not.

Actually the only reason I think I cultivated masculine qualities is when I realized what the real world was truly like.
When i was young before I puberty I was rather on the gentle side.
You have to grow up and be strong/independent.
Maybe if I had cancer NN I would grow up to be more gentle/ dependent on others.

I was mostly masculine until my body started crystallizing. Then I had to learn the feminine principles to let the energy flow through.

Parallel to this was my emphasis on cardio and stretching relative to weightlifting.

I have Cap asc opposed Cancer Sun, Venus and Square Jupiter in Aries

I have always been very feminine...I have the stellium in Cancer (Sun/Mercury/Venus)

I wouldn't wear anything but dresses in elementary and cried when my mom would make me lol but now I love the boyfriend shirts, oversized sweaters, leather and ball caps

I still have the feminine in me - painting nails, makeup, hair, jewelry all that but I've always loved the thrill from hopping on a motorcycle, dirt bike, four wheeler, running with the guys
I have two brothers so I know how to play sports and I'm not afraid to stick up for myself either

My cap asc - honestly I don't know how it's affected me...? I think I struggled a lot with insecurity when I was younger but now I couldn't give two f*cks who likes me or not lol

cool topic to bring up!
