I have been thinking about this. I once heard one of my favourite astrologers mention that planets in houses are active energies, while the sign on the cusp acts like a watered down version of this energy. It was something along the lines of this. But what is the actual difference between libra rising and venus in the first house based on your experience and knowledge? IP: Logged |

Libra rising means you come of as a libra in your first impression with people… depends on the aspect to the ascendant, but you will be a people-pleaser who is outgoing and likes to small-talk to everyone you meet on your way Venus in 1st house, is a bit different… you have an eye for the aesthetics, and your style is probably marked by your good sense for what looks appealing to people… you probably get a lot of compliments for your good style and eye for the details too… you don't necessarily look good in a natural way, but you know how to dress so that every good features you have comes in focus… actually you can be kind of ugly, but still look extremely good with venus in 1st house… libra risings look good, because they kind of have to in order to be pleasing and charming in all their interactions with people… All libra risings I've seen look kind of good in some way, or at least their appearance is very charming and nice All venus in 1st house I've seen (including my mom and one of my best friends) look extremely good in the way they dress and carry themselves around! My mom and best friend look good in general, but that is something else in their chart too IP: Logged |

Venus on the ascendant generally makes the person physically appealing in the face (assuming it is not under malefic influence) and makes one a little more inclined to the arts.Libra ascendant generally makes one attractive in PERSONALITY... they often have many friends, however they can at times be considered cowardly as well. They know how to say things that will please others so they aren't always sincere, but are considered good people in general. If using a vedic house system the male native often has a slightly pointed or hooked nose. IP: Logged |

You could say similar however if they were the same it wouldn't be too different things. Venus in first is stronger for all things Venusian than just having a Libra ascendant. IP: Logged |

it is similar but if you have venus in 1st, you will also have 1st house in another sign so you will express these characteristics as well. Venus quality will be stronger than a Libra rising.IP: Logged |

I think venus has a separate more complex energy from her signsIdk I noticed venus dominant people sometimes remind of Regina George.. Yeah they are likable and pleasing when they want to.. I think venus herself as more leo traits. It's really their world and your just living in it. IP: Logged |

I have both, wonder what that makes me No on a serious note I have scorpio venus in the first and obviously libra rising. I also have multiple planets in the 12th which in my opinion differentiates me from other Libras. I feel I have a more watery tone, mixed with the air. I'm a lot more intense and a very deep, vivid thinker. First house venus is completely different from libra rising, being that they're two completely separate things. One being your heart and the other just being you. IP: Logged |

I don't think they're exactly the same. There's a small difference and that has to do with house rulers. It's true that both Libra Rising and Venus in the 1st are concerned with harmony, getting along, being friendly and if interested, they know how to make their looks work for them. But Venus in the 1st will express these things through the sign it's in. There's more. Venus rules two houses in your chart (could be more if the person has interceptions and 2 cusps in Libra or Taurus). The Venus in the 1st person will take the matters of these houses - whichever have Libra and Taurus on the cusp to the forefront. These become a part of the way they start things, their first impressions, even their looks. While the Libra Rising does care about being pleasing and all, they will take the biggest part of their Libra qualities to another house - another part of their lives where it will really show. This same house also brings the matters of their 8th house (if no interceptions) to that house. IP: Logged |

They are both concerned with similar interests, but are not the same. The contrast really comes down to the difference between what a planet is and what a house is. Planets are objectified and identifiable personality traits. They are pieces of the complete entity we call "Me". Houses on the other hand are places or areas of our life-experience, where our planets (or personality traits) are at home expressing their selves. So if Venus is our value and appreciation mechanism (a.k.a. the part of our personality that tastes data collected by our senses, classifies that data along a spectrum ranging from valuable to repulsive, and habituates our expression in a way that attracts and maintains experiences on the valuable end of that spectrum) and 1H is the area of our life where we convey and establish self-identity, then we are talking about two very different pieces of the astrological puzzle. Libra ASC may look to Venus in order to express self identity. There can be a focus on shaping the self based on one's established values, or using the self as a way to advertise and attract experiences/people who appreciate those established values. Aside from Venusian traits, the person can also have an initial desire to be seen as just, fair, balanced, thoughtful, even-headed, and diplomatic. There is an initial desire to use the self as a tool for bridging the gap between self and everything that is not-self. Libra ASC people may want above all things, to be seen as relatable. Not just someone who is fun to talk to, but someone who's inherent self is pleasing and engaging to interact with. There is an understanding that one can not relate with others, without first being someone others want to relate with. Essentially 1H Libra revolves around the concept of Qualia and seeks to use the self as a tool to close the gap between personal experience and the experiences of others. Venus in the 1H on the other hand may use its identity to attract valuable experiences. A person with Venus and ASC in Scorpio for example, will have all the mystery, depth, perception, intensity, and guile associated with the sign, but there will be an inclination to use those aspects of their persona to acquire valuable experiences and establish protection from repulsive experiences. These people's Venus wants deep, lasting, and meaningful interactions, because all interactions are an emotional investment. This person therefor uses their identity to weed out potentially painful experiences. This person may have no problem hiding away from others, and waiting for the right person to relate with, while the Libra 1H person is more inclined to jump into the crowd and give everyone a shot. In this scenario the established self is used as a tool to acquire valuable experiences, where the Libra 1H scenario indicates someone who uses their valuable experiences to establish a self. So in a sense, though they deal with similar topics, both are quite different. IP: Logged |

A planet is the complete, solid manifestation of the energy... It is the energy itself. While the sign has the I influence of the energy, it's a lighter, watered down version of the planet. It still can be powerful but it can be overwritten or altered by aspects to other planets, where a planets energy won't change, only how the energy is projected or what style it is acted out in, will be changed! Like if it's in cancer, it's going to be a dramatic emotional style, in saggy it's going to be a fun loving and optimistic style...in cap it's going to be a practical "no non sense " style, scorpio is going to be an intense style....etc, ect....Like libra Pluto is different than a cap Pluto but yet Pluto is still behaving in the same way, uncovering, tearing down, and rebuilding...the way it goes about going this will change according to sign. Just like any planet...such as Mercury will always be expressing intellect but the way it does this will change by sign! A sign on a cusp can be drastically altered by the planets or even strong asteroids...so that the way the angle is projected doesn't come across as that sign, it comes across more as the planet sitting there! I have libra AC with Venus conjunct ....but I'm not like a libra! I look like a libra but I'm reserved, I'm not flirty, I care only about my appearance to the extent not to embarrass myself or others...I don't trust others easily, I'm guarded and prefer to sit in a corner and watch than to be the center of attention...why? Pluto sits on my libra AC under 2 degrees! Maybe I look like the stereo typical Libra/Venus, many people guess I'm a scorpio because I come across as quiet and intense, not at all the outgoing carefree domeanor of libra! Planets are the powerhouse behind the signs, that help describe the sign, signs still hold a lot if importance because they tell us how your personal planet or angle is styled and the houses tell what place the energy will directed in your life. My son is a Capricorn Rising, but with an early Aquarian Venus on the Ascendant. That makes him very serious, with an almost Gnome-like temperament, but he is very attractive, and almost everybody just naturally likes him. It helps him very much with his career, as he is very personable in a quite humanitarian fashion. That's not quite the same as a Libra Rising, they can be more accommodating and diplomatic, not always with the strength of character shown by my son's placement. IP: Logged |

In similar vein,I was wondering if having a planet in a certain house makes you act like that house, for instance is having Mars in the 8th house similar to having Mars in Scorpio? This applies to aspects too.If Mars aspects Neptune does that give Mars a Pisces vibe. That could add a lot of different layers--IP: Logged |

A malefic Venus does not make someone unattractive, malefic does not mean ugly. It means the planets are under stress to express themselves.Venus softens everything it touches, so Venus in the first house always has a soft touch based on sign. Something about the person is softer and more gentle to others, although the person may be rough on the inside. Like Angelina Jolie she is rough, perverse, and dark, but people still see her as soft... IP: Logged |

Libra in the first means your chart is flipped. The person might have capricorn IC and cancer MC. The person views others as typical Aries (descendant). The Asc is the first step laying out your whole chart. IP: Logged | |
