I think it indicates where the relationship is going,it's 'lifepath' so to speak.In the natal chart the NN indicates your own journey,what you are working on,talents and gifts you are supposed to be working on ,etc---that's the same for the composite chart.Say someone has NN in Pisces they are working on being more compassionate,helping others,maybe are on some kind of spiritual path-----
With a Capricorn NN maybe you are business partners,maybe you will share a lot of responsibilities,maybe it is just a serious somewhat somber relationship in general.You will both probably be ambitious individuals,you will want to achieve something,build something,accomplish something together---
