Whenever I look up the compatibility between two Chinese signs - I never find anything specific about their elements. How significant are the elements to compatibility..? e.g. would the relationship between a fire tiger and a fire dragon be very different to the relationship between a fire tiger and an earth dragon?IP: Logged |

Not an expert but I think so. Its like an unspoken rule? I noticed I get along with water elements. Since my particular gen are water signs. Water monkey- Water rooster I think being somewhat fluid and emotional sensitive is something we have in common. wait nvm. By nature, people born under the Water element are flexible, intuitive, diplomatic and unimposing. Yeah this ^ lolIP: Logged |

You may find it interesting to check out the compatibility between elements (fire bears earth, earth bears metal...etc...), but the thing is that element compatibility in chinese astrology is a little more complicated, something the element that "bears" the other may get weakened - meaning that in the partnership/relationship/friendship, one person prospers and one gets weakened. In your case, fire tiger and earth tiger would work better than two fire tiger. Tiger natural ruling element is wood, and fire "burns" wood, hence too much fire can point to incompatibility. edit: lol sorry I misread your post. Compatibility between fire tiger and earth dragon would be quite ok. In the case of the dragon it's an dw, since dragon is naturally ruled by earth. Fire bears earth. Tiger - naturally ruled by Wood. Earth nurture Wood.
The only thing is that fire tiger is conflicting in nature (fire burns wood). Earth dragon can be stubborn and if their power isn't harnessed well, they can be a bit out of control, too proud..etc... In the worst scenario it'd be quite stressful n the partnership may be marred by pride and ego. IP: Logged |

I had it memorized once...but I had to look.Water nourishes Wood Wood nourishes Fire Fire nourishes Earth Earth nourishes Metal Metal nourishes Water Water nourishes Wood And the other way... Water weakens Fire Fire weakens Metal Metal weakens Wood Wood weakens Earth Earth weakens water That's what I've read, but I'm not an expert on it so hopefully that's correct. And I know very little about Chinese astrology, but that's what I've read about elements. IP: Logged |

I got my information from a Feng Shui book and reading about it on the internet, haha. I don't recall the name of the book, though. But it was a really basic Feng Shui book. I am only assuming that the same principles apply for astrology. Sorry I forgot to mention that part... IP: Logged |

Yes, but even moreso is the Rising (also called Inner Companion). Two incomaptible Signs can get along very well if their Inner Companions are compatible. IP: Logged |

Odette: Sorry I can't really recommend a book coz don’t know much about English translations or chinese astrology books in English. The belief system on which chinese astrology was built is a bit different, so a lot of things get lost in translation. I have read some online articles and in general the information provided is quite similar to the info in the books that I have. Lol I read your post again and I was like “Eh I blame my retro merc”. Tiger and Dragon are both yang signs, and they’re seen as the two most powerful signs, so the union of these two is always interesting lol Fire tiger and fire dragon. In general, the nature of fire dragon is more "explosive" compared to earth dragon, because the original energy (dragon is ruled by earth so the original energy would be earth) is enhanced (fire bears earth). Chances are that the "bad side" and the "good side" are in extremes. There are other factors to take into account (the birth year is another aspect), but yeah as I’ve mentioned above, tiger is ruled by wood - fire tiger's original energy is already "weakened" or in conflict. Chances are that a relationship/union with a fire dragon may add more stress compared to the relationship between fire tiger and earth dragon. A lot of these interpretations aren’t just about personal compatibility, but also about general stuff. In the case of “incompatible” couples, it’s believed that they would either clash and/or attract bad luck/encounter more hardships/have more unfortunate events...etc... but yeah, it's something not to be taken too seriously.
