Yeah I think so chiron is slowly being pushed into the astrological community as a big player, so I'd just get ahead of the caution and just treat him as planet.

I mean pluto is chilling in the kuiper belt with all his other clones but is a major player... So the logic is minor planets/dwarf planets are kinda lost.

Thanks. I'm curious what others think. I might have another yod and I don't know how to approach it.

I would say No, technically. Chiron does not count with Unaspected planets. However, I would still count it in a lesser way, maybe, like I would note it but I would not call it a "true yod"

To piggy-back on this thought I've never understood why Pluto is so amazingly important but no one cares about Makemake and Haumea

Yes, why couldn't it?

Technically, anything can make an aspect, therefore, it can be in a Yod.

I think Chiron is significant, anyway. So I would say to consider the Chiron Yod as important - especially if planets are involved with it, of course.

It's named after a mythological centaur who healed others but couldn't heal himself. Usually it's interpreted by sign/house/aspect as our deep spiritual wounds and our potential to heal ourselves and others.

It would be a Chiron-Mercury-Mars yod. What's interesting, Mars and Mercury already build one yod. Hmmm!

I'm afraid yods are more complicated than that But yes, I suppose they can. I have Sagittarius Mercury after all. The Mars quincunx and Saturn semisextile and parallel aren't helping.

i found this.

quote:
There is a second, subsidiary Yod that also involves Retrograde Mercury in Virgo quincunx Mars in Aquarius sextile Chiron in Aries. Mercury and Mars are both Fulcrum planets, and also working together in both Yods, through the airwaves (Mercury/Uranus) and the military (Mars in Aquarius is disposited by Uranus, which rules electricity and electronics). Uranus is located on the Activation Point of the subsidiary Yod, so the planet Uranus had a profound influence in Russell Lawson's life. Uranian-ruled activities were a dominant part of his life, both in his work for the U.S. Air Force, then in his work as a private citizen under the call-sign, K1MOU. The second Yod of Mercury in Virgo (discriminating intelligence and service of an intellectual nature) to Mars in Aquarius (his position in the military as a radio and communications expert) sextile Chiron in Aries adds a dimension of suffering to the equation. Chiron in Aries indicates militant suffering, suffering with a vengeance. And, suffer he did: The long, dangerous bomber flights during WWII; the flights in freezing reconnaissance planes with no food for 18 hours before and during the Korean War; the long separations from his family; two aortal bypasses; and finally, cancer. And, that is only the physical part. This man was touched by the hand of fate and acquitted himself with great dignity, bravery and brilliance. The men and women who fought in WWII are called the Greatest Generation. My father fought in three wars, not just WWII, a remarkable achievement all by itself. He was a remarkable man who achieved much in his brief life.]

so did you fight a war?

I would consider any body able to be a part of an aspect or formation. However the smaller the body is, the less notable its influence. I think Chiron is made out to be more important than it's size suggests. Also note, while calculating formations, that if it is not one of the major planets, it may not lie on the ecliptical plane, and so it might not be making a true aspect. For example if you had Saturn opposite Makemake, and Saturn is 1 degree above the ecliptic while Makemake is 28 degrees south of the ecliptic, the aspect that those 2 planets are making to earth would be closer to a quincunx (150 degrees) then an opposition.

So while calculating true aspects for other bodys you should keep that in mind.
