I wrote something similar before but I am just so upset with my NN (Scorpio). I am a sun Libra and have many planets in Libra so growing up with a Taurus SN, I felt at peace with myself, probably because Taurus is also ruled by venus. Now that I'm moving into NN territory, I don't feel the Scorpio NN gels with my Libra planets. Water and Air don't go well together. Am I destined to be at odds with myself? I dated a guy who is a Libra sun with Taurus NN and he said growing up that he had a lot of anger issues but now as an adult, he was more at peace. I have also read accounts online of people with Libra sun who had Taurus NN and said the same thing. People seem happy with the earth NN. I know there is nothing I can do about it but I feel myself moving away from the earthy side of my nature and I am worried about losing that part of myself. :-(

Can anyone offer any insight?

I am by no means an expert on the nodes but I'll offer my two cents. From what I know the South Node represents what you've accomplished in your past life/ves and thus it is what comes naturally and easy to you in this life. The North Node represents the skills you need to hone in this life. I have seen the Nodes played up greatly, some people give huge importance to them, however in my experience they are only semi-important. They usually have more significance by house placement and in synastry, i.e. planets conjunct the Nodes.

Also I wouldn't worry about losing any part of yourself, the Nodes aren't physical bodies but rather are mathematical points. They don't rule any aspects of your life in the same sense the planets and luminaries do, and thus won't have much impact directly on your personality but rather will have an indirect influence on what happens IN your life.

The only positive I can see is that I have six planets in the 8th house (8th house is ruled by Scorpio). Would my Scorpio NN have any effect on my dealing with the packed 8th house? I have sun, moon, venus, mercury, pluto, mars in 8th house, although all but mercury are in Libra (mercury is in virgo).

I would be inclined to say no, heres another way to put it that might make more sense. The South Node is usually stuff you move away from, as in things that don't matter much to you naturally. And the North Node is where you naturally find yourself drawn or pulled to. Again thats by house placement. So say you had NN in the 10th you would probably find yourself naturally drawn to areas of work or accomplishing some goal or pursuing a career. If you had SN in the 4th house then you would probably not find family values, traditions, or that kind of stuff very important or pivotal in your life.

Ug, just looked up celebs who have Scorp NN and celebs who have Taurus NN and the Taurus NN people are thriving much more than the Scorpio NN. Many scorpio NNs were more successful and bigger celebrities in their youth it appears. I think it is difficult to go from the Venusian loveliness of Taurus to the Plutonian harshness of Scorpio in life.

It also looks like Scorpio NN benefits certain sun signs more than others. Water NN goes well with everything other than air so the Aquas, Libras, and Gemini are not going to thrive.

I also have a Scorpio NN and find it difficult. I have an 8H Pisces moon so I have that advantage of being okay with a little bit of isolation and starkness but I feel that Pluto is forcing me to deal with life in the realest possible way, without the comfort of blinders. And it's downright spooky sometimes.

Interesting but spooky. And I can see how that would be especially tough for a Libra to go through, yes.

I sympathize.

@ Kerosene - the earthiness of Cap will diffuse the 8th house issues. Earth NN's are the best in my opinion.

Fauxcoat, it seems like, since you are familiar with the eighth house, Scorpio isn't completely unknown.
I have the same thing going on with twelfth house and Pisces north node. I have both planets/sun in twelve and Pisces nn.

I'm a cap sun/asc/NN. It seems that as long as I'm true to myself n do what I think is best then things turn out relatively well. But I feel like I'm not evolved, due to the lack of internal struggles. Heh.

Taurus SN in 3rd would mean you hold on tightly to familiar thought patterns, ways of communicating, etc. Scorpio NN in 9th would be more a transformation of your beliefs, philosophies, etc... So in some ways all your Libra planets in 8th would be an advantage since air gives you flexibility but you've probably already been forced to make a lot of transformations in life

I have Cap Sun-Saturn-NN in 7th. Neptune conjunct my Dsc, transiting Pluto will cross over it soon... (hopefully I don't die or anything lol)

I can handle the Cap part, but balancing that with 7th house really complicates things

Well, you have sun in 7th house which is great. I have Saturn in 7th, too, but it is a singleton. NN in 7th to me indicates that your relationships would be your destiny. Not too bad!

My NN has some ugly aspects but I guess I'm still quite lucky. I fuflfil my destiny just by being my own ugly self

Yes but not all I want as a Cap... So far my "relationships" (not including friendships) have been mostly disasters and/or very restrictive. Chiron in 1st is tightly opposite my Sun-Saturn-NN, makes a T square with Ceres in Libra/4th house.

So Scorpio NN in 9th doesn't sound too bad to me either! If the Taurus stability thing isn't working out maybe you should travel or consider moving? Or use what you've been through with all the dark Scorpio/8th house lessons to teach or guide others in some way?
