I have Pluto in Scorpio and at least 8 significant people in my life have the same aspect. It seems to show mainly in ex gf's or girls I am interested in although some of my guy friends have it, too. Is this a mere coincidence or could it mean anything significant astrologically?

Most people born within a 4 year span either side of you, say you were born in 1989 then roughly anyone from 1985 - 1993 would have Pluto in Scorpio. It's orbit is elliptical and it takes approximately 8 years or a little more at it's fastest I believe to move through one sign. So everyone your age will have Pluto in Scorpio.

Yup, it was in Scorpio for 12 whole years, there's only 6 Pluto signs currently alive right now, the last of the Pluto in Leo generation are the very old people, and all the new born babies today are Pluto in Capricorn, meaning pretty much everyone you encounter in the world has their Pluto in either Virgo, Libra, or Scorpio.
