BUT! Wouldn't my SUN sign be in the FIRST house on my natal chart? On my natal chart, from astro diest, it shows my ascendant being in the first house...which is Saturn in Taurus. My SUN sign, Sagittarius, shows over in my 8th house...which also represents death, right? So, now I'm completely clueless and confused. Since I cannot post from home, I'll go ahead and give my info... 12-16-1970 1:58pm Roanoke, Virginia and thanks for reading...I'm just so clueless right now! IP: Logged |

This would be best answered in the Beginner Forum. I'm going to move it there. (As a Moderator of a different forum, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to move a thread from here. Just trying to keep things tidy ) IP: Logged |

Ascendants are always in the first. Yours is at 0 degrees, your Saturn is also there. Your sun is in the 8th and that house does represent death. IP: Logged |

The Sun sign and the Ascendant are two different things. Your Sun sign is the sign where the sun was at the time of your birth. The ascendant is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the time of your birth. The first house sign IS also the ascendant sign. If your sun is not the same as this sign, then it would not be in your first house. IP: Logged |

Not a dumb question...I wondered the same thing!! I just know now that everyone's rising sign (Ascendant) is always represented in the 1st house. The rising sign was the sign rising on the horizon at everyone's birth. I guess there is some reason for this but I don't know what it is. IP: Logged |

Here's a simple way for you to understand. Go back into astrodienst and edit your birth data, changing the time to choose "unknown" and take a look at your chart. All of the planets are scattered around your chart, but there are no houses shown, no divisions of the circle into 12 pie-like segments. Just for learning purposes, go back into "Edit data for..." and select a different time for your birth, say 2-3 hours later and see ascendant change and your Sun's position move into the previous house. Do it again another 2-3 hours later and see the sun and the ascendant move again. This shows you that the Exact Time of Birth determines the degree of the ascendant which equals the first house of the horoscope and sets up how the pie slices are created in your chart. This is why the Exact Time of Birth is so important. If you were born hours later, your Sun's position would be located in a different house and affect an entirely different area of life for you.

Are you saying that when the Sun is in 1st house the Ascendant is also the same sun sign ?

Not true. It depends where the ascendant is degrees wise. Other planets can be in different signs and still be in the first house. It just depends what degree each planet is in whatever sign it's in. For example I have a 17 degree Libra ascendant and my Venus is at 1 degree in Scorpio all in the first house, because my ascendant is moving away from the Libra it's therefore creating more room for the next sign to get in. Hope that makes sense. IP: Logged |

So, what REALLY happened to those early Colony people?Did they do one of those early Bermuda Triangle Poofs? Inquiring Minds want to Know... Anyway, here you go: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum34/HTML/001684.html I had trouble defining exactly what you were asking, but I'll give it a shot. You know when the Full Moon rises, and it it just cresting into view on the Eastern Horizon? When it appears just HUGE and magnified, like the heatwaves from the Earth? That's your Ascendant. Whatever Constellation is Ascending into our Earthly Presence. So, if you were born at Sunrise, your Sun would be right at that point. If you were born at noon, it would be at the MidHeaven. Sunset would be on the Descendant. Midnight on the Nadir. Hope that helps? IP: Logged |

Oh, and although your Sun is posited in the Eighth, it is Conjunct the Ninth House Cusp.(You're a Sag. That's a Sag House.) Since that is the most sensitive point of the House, check both Houses for proper Interpretation. I have my Part of Fortune posited exactly the same way. IP: Logged |
