In addition to my asteroid rising topic in the Asteroid forum, I'd like to make a thread about planets rising. What do you think each planet conjunct the ASC (or in significant aspect) gives to a person in terms of physical appearance/psychological traits/life events? I am especially interested in physical appearance. Do you have any planet rising and how does it manifest for you? IP: Logged |

I think first house counts too, especially if it's a prominent planet. What do you have in the first house, Libra? Do you act/look like the planet?I found another great thread about it here: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum34/HTML/000316.html except that I thought Pluto rising people are supposed to be hairy IP: Logged |

I have Neptune and Uranus first house. Over my life I've noticed that they take turns in dominating my personality. Teens were all uranus first house and neptune when i was a kid lol. I turned 19 last year and now neptune is starting to come back.. as far as appearance goes, I feel like it only affects the way i dress. IP: Logged |

These sound about right. You might be right about Pluto! Mars in 12th conjunct Mars rising inclines to heavy eyebrows over direct or piercing eyes and the overall demeanor is of decisiveness and forceful energy. With high forehead and cheekbones, the nose is long, the mouth chin firm. Mars gives a strong and stocky body and a ruddy complexion from excess iron in the system. The hair may also be red and is usually curly or wiry. There could be a mole or mark on the face and the temper often shows livid. Bill Clinton and Donald Trump have Mars rising. Pluto in 1st conjunct Pluto rising tends toward a dark and swarthy appearance with penetrating eyes under heavy eyebrows. The cheekbones are flat and somewhat fleshy, with a firm mouth and determined chin. The build is rugged and sturdy with physical strength that is greater than the body size suggests. The skin is delicate and except for fine hair on the head there’s little on the rest of the body. Leonardo DiCaprio shows traits of his rising Pluto. JFK Jr. also had this Pluto position and with the North Node attending, his height was increased beyond the average. IP: Logged |

About equal , you could say a Sagittarius with a Scorpio ascendant .. The ascendant is in Scorpio and Ixion is near the orbit of Pluto which puts Pluto in the stronger position, but Sun/Mercury are in Sagittarius with Mars in the Ninth, i'd go with Jupiter bearing in mind Pluto is the ascendant ruler. What planets do you have on the ascendant?

No planets on the ASC, Mystic Cat, but I do have Lilith in Aquarius conj the ASC in Capricorn, and apparently I identify with Lilith physically and psychologically.I do however have Saturn conj the DSC, but I'm not sure how this affects the ASC and the physical appearance, should it influence it, what do you think? My rising sign is Gemini and I have Moon in Cancer in the first house. I guess it kinda gives me a round lunar-like face with a nice chin. I don't like having a round face, though. It also affects the way I dress. I look better in "bad girl" clothing/makeup/hairstyles than the normal ultra-girly girl style. It's probably because of Gemini's androgynous personality plus the Moon's feminine touch.IP: Logged |

Oh gosh yes! Three! I have Jupiter, Mercury and Uranus and then Pluto is a bit further back but is close to Uranus. Planets conjunct ascendant draw attention to the self and since I have Venus in tenth aspect to these planets, I am quite visible and get a lot of attention. I am not the typical non-descript person people quickly forget. This is how the stellium shows up. No one ever ever forgets me no matter how much I wish they would. Even people I have long forgotten show up and they know my entire name. I do not recognize them, haven't seen them since I was a little kid and they still remember my entire name, first and last! I'd say generally planets on the descendant do have a strong effect on the appearance and the ascendant, being in the natural opposite aspect IP: Logged |

I have Saturn and Neptune on the same degree as Ascendant (Cap Rising), with Jupiter opposite by 1 degree orb (square moon as well..)A lot can be said, pretty much everything (in-depth) about those planets conjunct the Asc is true for me. Astrology is one of the only things that has explained me or helped me to understand myself or my life in any way. Starting with the physical stuff Saturn on the Asc causes me to come across to some as serious/sad/shy/introverted. Was sick often when younger (but this was also due to home atmosphere and being fed wrong foods). I am very uncomfortable in my body/being human, feel very awkward. Tall, thin. Have had teeth, bone and skin issues at one time or another. Neptune on the Asc causes people to put projections on me in every way possible(as well as me responding differently to others because I feel so different around different people). Apparently I have large eyes (and amazing some say), my weight can fluctuate by up to 5 pounds per day up or down for no apparent reason (I think water retention must have a lot to do with it) and I always feel different and feel like I look different. This combo makes me question who I am and why I am here in this incarnation, I feel utterly lost and confused and like I do not belong here (yet very sure and have very strong convictions about certain things!) Hypersensitive, chronic fatigue, anxiety. Very romantic, in love with love. Very sensitive to light, sound, smell, chemicals/toxins. Very emotional and intuitive. I have feel like I have a complete lack of objectivity about myself/life, I am very submerged, introverted. I think and FEEL a lot. Love to daydream, very escapist that way. Saturn on the Asc makes me be brutal to and hate myself, periods of severe depression. Saturn here made me grow up VERY young (too much to say), in short abused/abandoned by mother, was made to feel a burden/unloved, and expected to be the adult, was emotionally, verbally, mentally abused and grew up in a very chaotic atmosphere around a lot of alcohol and drugs. All of this caused both much eye opening and confusion. All of it causes me to be a "study of contradictions." I have rapidly fluctuating emotions/thoughts, wants and desires that completely oppose each other and a whole lot of vacillation between all the contradictory things going on inside of me. Have basically spent whole life trying to understand myself/humanity/Earth and our purpose, individually and as a whole and in the end I suppose I have made a lot of progress in my understanding (although at times fail to feel so) but to me life is an eternal lesson. I view this reality as very harsh and hard and cold and long to be "one" again. To me it feels as if there is this huge veil over our reality and I can at times almost see through it or feel more at one with the other side of the veil than I do here. I feel so much it often makes me ill (nauseous, fatigued) and a lot of the time wish I could not feel anything, however due to the atmosphere I grew up in I have never and will never try hard drugs because I have seen the effect and how they can utterly change a person over a long period of time. Although I feel I might not be facing my destiny as well I as could, I am trying to accept/face/absolve/understand my karma and pain which is why haven't/won't taken the "cowards way out" although I have thought about it a Lot. My mom has neptune in 1st but she is as scorp rising so she is very secretive. Still don't know what happened to her. But I know she picks up ppl feelings very well. She has an earth grand trine so the neptunian effects are not severe. She def has some confusion about herself, though. My sister has saturn, neptune, uranus all conjunct her Asc within 2 degree. Uh... Confusing about direction; insisting on individuality. She is not into astrology but she uses the word "individual," and "me" a lot. She has the flares at the nose typical to neptune conjunct Asc ppl. Very bony chin, but due to cap rising and libra sun, she has the cardinal forehead. Eyes can be at time dreamy. Not so much unique appearances or dressing style as being completely tacky. Also has venus in sag making only one aspect in the entire chart so maybe that's the real problem. IP: Logged |

Not sure if you've read this yet, but I might as well add it since it's completely relevant. quote:
Mercury Rising is usually highly inquisitive for knowledge, and has a powerful need for mental stimulation in their environment. They come across as intellectual, witty, youthful and may be recognized for their communication or writing skills. They may also be noted for their versatility and adaptability, but much of this depends on the sign. Some notable professions include: lecturing, writing, and public speaking. This is someone who needs to analyse their environment, collect information, and be noticed for their knowledge. We may find someone who is very talkative or who likes to write a great deal, and they express themselves through the sign of Mercury. This placement is frequently listed as one of the top aspects for great writers. All planets ascending in the horoscope are important but those nearest the cusp have the highest influence, and Mercury, the planet of writing, communication and studying finds its strongest expression when placed on an angle. Venus Rising is a good position for working in relationships and they sometimes have natural mediator qualities and seek to always be fair with others. Venus powerful in the chart usually has a strong need to be liked and to be popular. They may express themselves through art or beautiful clothing from jewelry to make-up. They often possess a strong artistic sense and view the world through what aesthetically pleases the senses. Maybe there is a powerful drive to make one as beautiful as possible. There is also a powerful need to please others, and a strong urge to create peace and harmony in their environment. Depending on the sign of Venus a strong affectionate nature may also be present in the individual. Mars Rising tends to be assertive and likes to initiate plans and ideas, and they may also be highly competitive and challenging. Astrologer Sue Tompkins notes these people as having a vague feeling that conflict is about to break out at any minute, and that sometimes the person is born is born into a competitive environment or raised in an early atmosphere of conflict. Depending on sign and aspects these people tend to have a go-getting approach, and when Mars is sitting right on the ascendant this can sometimes represent early births. Jupiter Rising is often optimistic, generous, and enthusiastic in approach, and there is a powerful need to explore the world around them. They may be interested in teaching, travelling, sports, or even religious pursuits. Jupiter rising is usually keen to get on with life and enter each new phase of growth or adventure with an open mind. Life seems to offer them a chance to grow and explore the world around them. As part of their development they need to take on these risks and venture out further, past the usual boundaries. Distant horizons will beckon, and their life is set to undergo a process of great change and expansion. A Jupiter rising individual is born to develop new and greater potentials, but sometimes they are prone to feeling intensely restless and discontented. They need to open up windows and view life through a larger lens and see what’s outside for them. Jupiter rising individuals are intuitive and gifted at making connections and develop a deepening of faith in life as they grow. Saturn Rising can have an isolating influence which sometimes blocks the individual from social life and they can be highly defensive and self-protective. The planet Saturn is so self-sufficient the individual sometimes stands alone rather than relying on others to help them out. The foundations of their individually are likely to be tested periodically, and may bring about deeply embedded fears and anxieties. Saturn rising people must learn to have more faith in their own talents and abilities and they will be constantly “tested” throughout life. The goal is to cultivate self-reliance and the ability to cope with separateness. Sometimes they are overly influenced by what others think about them, but there is real ambition here and the real test is learning how to define their individuality and make something of themselves in the world. These people are realistic and extremely cautious in their approach, and many are leaning to be these things and to carve out goals, and think more seriously about what they want to achieve in life. Saturn rising may be drawn to science, architecture, or the study of older subjects, but vocationally a lot depends on the nature of the rest of the horoscope. This placement gives a drive for success but it is only usually won through hard-work, determination and self-control. It is believed by astrologers that a Jupiter rising soul is eager to get out into the world and can’t wait to be born, whist our Saturn rising friends are less reluctant to jump into incarnation or even to be born at all! This reading is completely reminding me the movie Chances Are. Whatever the case, it is believed that there may be some form of waiting or delay at the time of birth. Uranus Rising often makes the native very original or even eccentric, and sometimes very sudden in their movements. The individual may have some unique and unusual ways. They are usually drawn to groups and organisations where they can express their ideas and progressive natures. Sue Tompkins believes these people may look and be different in some way compared to others, and she lists them as being quite tall in height. They may experience some very sudden shifts and changes in their life. Uranus on the ascendant is sometimes associated with an unusual birth, or some kind of shocking event happening ‘out of the blue’ at the time of their arrival or even in early childhood. The early environment may have pegged them out as different in some way or even outstanding. Neptune Rising gives great sensitivity to life and sometime psychic qualities are present. They need to follow a path that puts them in touch with this inspirational and deeply sensitive side, but one that does not allow them to lose their way in life. The boundaries of Neptune rising are weak, and they are usually attracted to the helping professions, healing, art, music and film. Marilyn Monroe (Neptune rising in Leo) lived life through the lens of a camera (Neptune); she was extremely photogenic, and acted as a medium for the feelings and thoughts of others. The birth stories for a powerful Neptune rising are quite interesting and some involve the heavy use of anesthetic, but sometimes there is a flood, or a highly sensitive and emotionally un-stabling event happening in the environment at the time of birth/early childhood. Maybe the heavy use of drugs in the environment may have been a problem. The astrological associations for early events are endless and the individual will best describe what sort of “Neptunian” experience was felt early on and it may be less dramatic than the above examples. Pluto Rising gives a measure of intensity to the personality and it’s something that not everybody can handle. They need to deal with power issues-their own and others. They are also interested in anything which explores the hidden depths of each situation. Those with Pluto rising often report that there was a death in their early environment, and sometimes it was a parent, or a close relative. The individual may have had a traumatic birth or there is some kind of issue around survival. Either way, Pluto rising seems to set up a dramatic situation in order for the person to grow and change. The planet Pluto resents stagnation in life, so these people are always forced to change in some way. Often these individuals are exposed to the darker sides of life earlier than usual, like abuse, family secrets, early trauma, but this also makes them highly sensitive to danger and extremely self-protective. Sue Tompkins likens these people to wearing sun glasses, so they always keep a part of themselves hidden from view, but she also notes that this need to hide can be crippling to their sense of personal identity. Sue Tompkins also links Pluto to the personal grandmother and noted that she may have a powerful and even domineering role in the individual’s life.

Deepseablues, I am also a Cap rising. I think your Saturn on the ASC in his own sign combined with Neptune would give you a strong and peaceful second half of life with both energies integrated. I also think it's important for your to surround yourself with positive people, energies, activities, music etc., anything cheerful and/or fairy tale like, nothing prosaic, because your Neptune makes you like a "sponge" and combined with Saturn tends to absorb the sadness or any other negative energies from the environment. Thank you for the extensive explanation !IP: Logged |

This is all very true for me, especially the concentration on aesthetics and showing beauty through clothing and jewelry, etc. that's something that I really value. I have venus/asc in pisces in my 1st house, but my first house is also shared with my jupiter which is in Aries. IP: Logged |

Saturn rising: a late bloomer par excellence, and I expect more to come. I looked hideous in my teenage, no one will guess it's me now! It's like I have done some plastic surgery of some sort. haha. I'm a bit skinny (below the average BMI and body fat), and my waist is very thin. Naturally tanned skin. Also, I have noticed my face is getting more and more defined. Is this usual for you saturn risers?I have strong and shiney nails. They get praised a lot. I'm not sure if this is saturn or my gemini moon/mars. Psychologically, okay I felt bad but that was years ago, in school. Now, I'm all confident.

That would be lovely if that were to come true but I'm not going to count on it (trying to let go of expectations). But that is true about surrounding myself with fairy tale stuff, I am in love with nature, trees and animals and rocks and the elements, I love it in it's wild, crazy, chaotic natural beauty and hate how mankind is always trying to transform it to suit us better, but the funny thing is that there is order in natures chaos that works out to the benefit of us all. Anyway without rambling too much I always wished we could have built our cities like the Shire or Rivendell or Lothlorien in the Lord of the Rings, or maybe even a combo of them but I don't understand why we had to make our cities so ugly and negative and destructive and devoid of sustainability and equality, we didn't work with the natural flow of the land but completely disrupted it to make it work how we wanted it to and I can constantly feel that disruption and the pain/sadness of the earth and the nature spirits and the neglect/abuse they have endured. Not that many believe that but I don't need them to... I know what I feel.
