I've never completely understood what happens in all the different stages of Mercury Retrograde:

I was wondering if there is a straightforward explanation of each phase.. e.g.:
Pre-shadow - Misunderstanding of facts occurs
Retrograde Station - Person makes decision based on misunderstanding
Retrograde - Person acts on the decision made leading to a chain of more misunderstandings.
Direct Station - Person realises they had the wrong idea.. and they initially misunderstood information/facts etc.
Direct - Person takes action to rectify initial misunderstanding.
That's just what I had in mind ^^ But let me know if you've read anything about this!! Cheers
