Of course everyone has the right to believe what they choose but why do some people feel so much disdain for astrology? It goes beyond skepticism, they tend to think of it as the lowest form of revelation and often treat it with derision.

I can’t understand why this happens. In my opinion, astrology seems like the most “down to earth” belief system compared to others because it deals with the supernatural the least or at least in a more scientific way. Is that it? Is it because it rubs shoulders with science too much? Astrology seems to be right on the line – more tangible than the occult yet not enough for science. Is it that uncertainty that turns people off?

What do you think? I find it a bit unfair that astrology gets such a bad reputation considering how over the top some other beliefs are but they aren’t as renounced as astrology.

I think because it deals more with a person's personality, relationships and other human things. Unlike religions are about believing in something. And it is no secret that a lot of people find their charts or "personalities" a bit unpleasnt or uncool.

and bc people can get way too susbjective about it. i wonder if scientists have ever seen their own charts. i guess they'll just dismiss everything even if some things resonate..

Because people are stupid and close-minded.

Ask them what they know about astrology other than their sun sign, and I guarantee 99.9% don't know anything! I hate it when people dismiss things they know nothing about!!

There is one situation when I feel a bit antagonistic towards astrology (although I'm a geek), and that is when astrologers use it to explain criminals and crime victims. There was a webpage about the Natalee Holloway disappearance that ****** me off because the astrologer suggested that she was destined to go missing according to the transits and her natal chart. I think that this assumption is wrong on so many levels.

Astrology for me provides a metaphysical reason that events occur, or why people have certain characteristics and personalities. However, using astrology to blame the victim is not a good reason to use it.

Everyone thinks they know what "lunatic" means. A megalomaniac race finds it hard to accept, that there is something out there more powerful than themselves.
