I've read that one feature of the 8th involves addiction. I would have thought that would be the 12th. Anyone have any insight to this?IP: Logged |

I would think the 12th is more about the "high", the 8th (think Pluto (obsessive)) sounds more like addiction. I don't get your exact question though LOLIP: Logged |

I have a packed 8th house and I am not an addict. Never did drugs, I smoked cigarettes for a few years but quit cold turkey, I don't drink much. IP: Logged |

Addiction need not be taken literally. I have a packed 8th. I dont smoke, never get drunk or get high. I dont do soda, coffee, etc. I consider obsessions that go out of control to be addictions. Generally, an addiction is something that you do because you can't stop and is usually unhealthy for you. It is what you can't actually stop properly, not just what you think you can stop. It could be that you prefer to browse the Internet so much that it affects the other parts of your life (guilty! Usually watching 8th house TV shows or googling 8th house topics). Or something that you do in intimate relationships because you can't help yourself even if you know it's bad for you. Maybe you need to get inside someone's head and know their thoughts even if they don't want you to. Maybe it's the insistent urge to play therapist to people who don't care for it. Look at it as repeated actions that affect your life negatively. And then do the 8th house thing and kill it brutally or remove it surgically IP: Logged |

Sag - wouldn't that explain everyone? I think going too far with addiction examples thins out the argument. Every single person would be considered to have some sort of addiction then. Someone with a 2nd house stellium might hoard money under their bed or collect fabrege eggs. Really is that a bad addiction? Someone with 5th house stellium might date a lot or say "I love you" to many different people. Bad addiction? IP: Logged |

Moon in eighth opposite Neptune in second. No addictions. Or, at least, no drug addictions. I am addicted to caffeine and the psychology of toxic people.IP: Logged |

I wonder if an emotional fed addiction would be an afflicted 12th house. My mom was an alcoholic who'd get drunk, then really sad. ... but she never would really come forth with what made her sad. It was like these huge secret(s) she never would divulge. Just harbor and fester. I never knew her birth time, so I couldn't tell for sure. I have moon and Jupiter in 8 th house , and while I could see addiction qualities (like, its 9pm and I get chocolate cravings I'll inflict injury over ) it's been eat for me to keep in check.
