I've come to the conclusion that Saturn is not only the planet of loyalty when it is in good synastry aspect... but also the planet of betrayal when it is in negative synastry aspect. Keep in mind that when I use the word loyal, I don't necessarily just mean sexual fidelity because I've conducted this experiment mostly with platonic relationships between friends.

It seems to me that when Saturn is Square another person's personal planets the result is usually that the planet person trusts and is loyal to the Saturn person but the Saturn person isn't as loyal to the planet person. For example with Saturn Square venus, venus may trust Saturn with their secrets and eventually Saturn divulges those secrets to other parties. I recently saw this in a chart between two friends where there was NOTHING but trines and sextiles except for two things- mars square jupiter and venus square saturn. Both tight. Seeing as how they had so many wonderful aspects together I wondered if Saturn would ever betray venus at some point and indeed she did although he didn't know it.

I forgot to add- I would like to see if others can post synastry charts of people they know and see if this applies.

Brilliant observation mandarin!

This is a hard inner-aspect to overcome.
(even with supportive aspects)

I see this actually...
Interesting observation!

I feel betrayed by a friend who I love and who I know loves me.
His Saturn is exactly square my Mercury.
We have many other positive aspects.

I hope we'll get past this though - but it's very upsetting.

hmmmm I looked up another person who I felt betrayed by several times - but we don't have Saturn squares.
My Saturn is exactly conjunct her Uranus (both retrograde).. and her Saturn is exactly trine my Jupiter.

I think Pluto aspects can also figure in betrayal.

The difference in these situations is that the guy I mentioned above is kind of 'naive'.. He is not completely aware of what he has done -- whereas this second person (female) was highly calculated and aware.

Maybe Saturn-style betrayal is not intentional.. whereas Pluto-style betrayal is.

Interesting concept. It would make sense that if Saturn was afflicted then duty/obligation would be challenged/blocked/denied.

I've usually held that Neptune is more of the deceptive one when afflicted.

From the example I gave in the first post with these two friends who had almost all good aspects between them. He had a severe mental illness and he took anti-psychotic medication for it. She knew he did not want anybody to know about his time in a mental institution or his illness and she told everyone anyway. She even secretly took the medication out of his cabinet to show people how "nuts" he was when he was not around and would sneak the meds back into the cabinet before he would return. When I tried to stop it from happening by confronting both people, it was very hard to convince the victim that he was being betrayed. All she had to do was tell him that telling all these people his secret and sneaking his medicine out of his room behind his back was all somehow "an accident" and that she didn't mean to hurt him. I couldn't believe it when he actually bought this. He was loyal to her to the last despite her betrayal and she didn't seem to care and kept divulging his secret afterwards.

It'll be good to check the natal chart of the person on top of the synastry. A scorpio/8th house people deals better with secret, but not quite so perhaps for the full-on gem folks (not trying to generalise here). It comes down to personality and character of a person, me think.

Also, with all saturn aspects in synastry, maturity on both sides is a must in order for the relationship to thrive and be stable as a rock.

It could mean betrayal in some sense but I don't think Saturn means spilling secret.

Maybe the girl has something in her chart so she couldn't hold any secrets.

I have Venus trine Saturn with someone I feel is secretive with me, actually a couple people.

Neptune IS deceptive but in a slower and less obvious way than Saturn or Pluto. Neptune is more subjective, so that when / if something changes in the relationship or it ends and you regain your objectiveness you see the truth.

My experience is slightly different. I would say I've been betrayed by two people in my life so far and our synastry was flooded with Saturn trines.

The only hard Saturn aspects were made by my Saturn and I was the one betrayed. In fact I was fiercely loyal to them even when things were rough until they just crossed the line. After that I severed out ties.
