I am so critical of myself with mercury in virgo. Does anyone with this placement find they have difficulty with being critical of oneself?

I don't have Mercury in Virgo, but I think this behavior in general is a Virgo trait. I've seen similar threads about being self critical on here from Virgo Asc, and Moons too.

As a Virgo Sun I am like this and I can literally be my own worst enemy in that regard. Like, if someone where to point out a flaw or mistake about me, it wouldn't even phase me because it's a guarantee that I was already aware of it and have thought and critiqued it to the nth degree. I'm literally at a point now where I'm trying to become more conscious of when I think negatively about myself and instead correct it with positive thoughts.

Do you have any hard aspects to Saturn to any of your personal planets?

Saturn semi-square sun, moon, mercury, and square Uranus (not a personal planet but Uranus is the ruler of my chart with my aquarius rising). I also have Saturn opposite my Asc.

Just out of curiosity, do all these aspects make me more like a Capricorn?

Yes I have Mercury in Virgo and am also Virgo sun (although these aren't conjunct), but both in 11th house. It makes me rather self-critical when it comes to social situations or communication (eg I used to do journalism/writing and was always editing my material to the point where my bosses said they actually preferred the freshness of the original article). My Mars and Venus in Leo in the 10th by contrast makes me quite gregarious and expressive in performance situations. Weird contradiction that.

I have a Virgo south node and I can be very self-critical, but I blame it on my 12th house though.

Mercury in Virgo... 12th house Conjunct Virgo Mars, square moon (ouch!) trine Jupiter

I'm harder on myself than anyone really understands or knows about.
There's much more below the surface than what anyone sees.

Mercury in Virgo here. Yes, I do experience self-criticism a lot, especially when it has to do with writing or vocal communications (Mercury in the 3rd). For me, everything I say has to make sense and my writing should always look neat and beautiful. I have major writing OCD.

It's not just that though. I am also very hard on myself because I have Mars opposite Saturn.

They make you more Saturnian, have you ever looked at your pullen chart on Astro? It's a nice way to look at your dominant planets, signs, elements, etc.

And the Saturn aspects are probably making it harder too - can cause a low self esteem. I asked if you had any hard Saturn aspects because I have Sun/Saturn opposition and Mercury quincunx Saturn.

Yup, with all hard aspects to Saturn to a personal planet. No fun at all.

Extraordinarily critical. Mercury square Uranus doesn't help, either.
