I was just re-watching the British 1995 TV series of this (not the movie version with Keira Knightly) - the TV version is soooo much better with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. Seen it dozens of times and probably a dozen more!Anyway it got me thinking of what aspects the heroine/hero would have had with each other. I would say Aquarius sun for her and Scorpio sun for him. Opposites attracting, stubborn and fixed in their opinions. He is simmeringly sexy and dark and powerful, she is spiritual and sort of "airy", but just as resolute in her opinions. What do you think, for anyone who read the original Jane Austen novel? Edit - oops, just realised, Aquarius and Scorpio square each other, but sort of the same thing! IP: Logged |

I love the A & E version! Colin Firth (Virgo) and Jennifer Ehle (Capricorn) fell in love while making the film, and I think it's obvious that their chemistry is real. And I think that Virgo/Capricorn suits Darcy and Elizabeth quite well. But as for the book, I see your point, and that could work. Jane Austen was a Sagittarius, and I can see Elizabeth being the same. Actually, in the book, her conversational style so closely matched Darcy's, the only thing I'd know for sure is that their Mercuries make a tight, major aspect between them. HAVE to. Mr. Bingley is an Aries, of course. Jane is a Pisces, I think? IP: Logged |

I see Darcy as a Capricorn and Elizabeth as a Sag or Virgo or Scorp. IP: Logged |

I agree the 1995 version is awesome. The movie is good too, but the mini-series is better. It's longer and more detailed and you really get a chance to get deep into the story. Plus the leads to have great chemistry. Their synastry is pretty good also, they have Mercury trine Mercury which gave their verbal exchanges a natural flow. The actors were a Virgo/Capricorn combo.But... I've always thought of the characters of Mr Darcy as a Capricorn Sun Male, and Elizabeth as a Sagittarius Sun female. For Mr Darcy, I could also see a Scorpio Moon, and some Virgo influences, as well as some type of Air influence, and his Saturn in Leo. He comes of as stand-offish, arrogant, rational, and uptight... When really it's just that he feels uncomfortable around people he doesn't know. And that he's also grappling with his feelings for Elizabeth, and how to handle them. Jane Austen herself had a Virgo rising with the end of Capricorn on the 5th house, and Neptune in Virgo ruling the Dsc. I think this is how she came up with Mr Darcy's personality. Her romantic ideals show in her chart. He's your typical shy Earth sign guy who seems rigid on the outside but is really sensitive on the inside. For Elizabeth, I could also see an air influence, like Libra or Aqua Moon. Jane Austen was a Sagittarius with Libra Moon, and I suspect she may have written a version of her ideal self in Elizabeth. I'd say Elizabeth would have a bit of Earth and water in her too in other parts of her chart. She also comes across as quite a caring, realistic type person (she's nowhere near as silly as Lydia). In Pride & Prejudice it's said of Elizabeth: "For she had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything ridiculous." As soon as I read this I thought 'Fire sign, probably Sagittarius!' Jo B, I actually quite liked your Scorpio/Aquarius suggestion. As I mentioned before I see Elizabeth as potentially being an Aqua Moon or Venus. She is honest, open, and somewhat unapologetic about her opinions and views much like an Aqua. And Mr Darcy certainly has a brooding quality, which I attributed to a Scorpio Moon. In either case it's definitely an 'opposites attract' type of love story. She is friendly and outgoing, and he is reserved and serious. IP: Logged |

Darcy is definitely Cap, reserved and cold which then pulls strings and becomes provider. He's boss all the way through. I think Elizabeth is Sag.IP: Logged |

Nice to see others appreciate this great classic novel (and the series was just spot on in my opinion. I studied the book at school long before I saw the TV adaptation and Elizabeth and Darcy were EXACTLY how I'd imagined them). I didn't realise Firth and Ehle were romantically involved, there is sooo much chemistry in their interactions, particularly from him. Brilliant acting from everyone really.Yes I can see how Elizabeth could have been a Sagi too. But Darcy definitely is stubborn (well at first, until she thaws him) so I will stick with a fixed sign for him. I can see the Capricorn in there too though. Maybe Cap sun, Scorpio rising perhaps? I could analyze this for hours actually. lol. What about the awful Mr Collins? hehe. Which sign has the most smarminess? lol IP: Logged |

Let me take a guess. I'm guessing Mr Collins is a Pisces with a Leo Moon, and Virgo rising square a Gemini Mars. Now I'm sure their are people out there with this combo who are lovely, but if you focus on all the negative possibilities of this combo I think you get a pretty good picture of Mr Collins. He doesn’t have a strong sense of his own identity, and so he has built his life around a powerful women who basically runs his whole life for him. He even wanted to get married just because she told him to! He focuses on irrelevant details, and makes snooty observations based on them, while at the same time remaining cheerfully oblivious to how ridiculous and insensitive he is. I suspect he has an Aquarius Mercury square a Taurus Jupiter. He loves to schmooze among society, and pays too much attention to who has wealth and who doesn’t. He’s socially inappropriate with how he expresses himself, and again, did I mention how silly and tactless he is while remaining clueless to this fact (Jupiter in hard aspect in the natal chart can come across and tactless, boastful, silly, overly opinionated, and naive). If he had a Virgo Asc, Pisces is his Dsc, ruling ‘others’. He doesn’t really see clearly where others are coming from (He certainly couldn’t take hint when it came to Elizabeth), and seemed completely unaware that Charlotte had only married him for security.

I didn't know they were romantically involved either!! If they were that explains the chemistry. IP: Logged |

Lotis, your analyses are so in-depth. I loved his scenes in the TV series. The actor played it to perfection. And the way the Bennett sisters looked positively bored during his long-winded, condescending speeches, or simply laughed at him. Also the way he fawned around Lady Catherine De Burgh was hilarious. I'd say he was a Pisces sun too with hard aspects to other personal planets. Perhaps a Taurus moon. Lots of earth and a bit of air which accounts for his verbal diarrhoea. hehe
