I've just drawn up a composite using the Ebertin method, and I'm having a hard time making sense of what I'm seeing. There's one series of planets and objects on the inside rim of the circle in blue, and another series on the outside in red. Exactly what does that outside series refer to? I'm totally lost.

even when you are doing a composite, with the Ebertin method you are getting just a natal.

Ebertin was a German astrologer who worked intensively with midpoints or halfsums, and using the 90 degree dial (just like Witte).

In this dial you put the whole zodiac into 90°.

00-30° all cardinal
30°-60° all fixed
60°-90° all mutable

the signs do not matter, just the 4th harmonic aspects, which would appear as conjunctions in the 90 degree dial.

4th harmonic aspects include conjunction, opposition and square only.

So if you have Venus on 12 Aries and Jupiter on 12 Cancer, both planets would appear on 12° in the 90 degree dial. Which is what is the outer ring with the planets in red. If you look closely you will notice that there are only 90 degrees in that outer circle - that is the 90 degree dial.

The inner circle is the normal natal.
