The Rabbit in Chinese astrology is sometimes referred to as a "Cat"... Would people born in the Rabbit years resemble a rabbit or a feline.. in appearance?

I think I have an FB "friend" who posted a false year of birth... and I'm wondering whether he might be a Rabbit (& not a Dragon). But he actually looks more like a Cat..

The guy I like is a rabbit, and so is my cousin, both are Scorpios, and both look more like cats in my opinion. Esp. when they smile, reminds me of the Cheshire Cat lol

Your friend can find out what his sign is here: http://www.astrology.com/chinese-astrology

Here's an article that may explain the cat-rabbit thing. It could be just a little misunderstanding.

In vietnam, for example, Some believe that Vietnamese astrologers purposely changed it. But so far I haven't heard or read about why they did so. I'm more inclined to believe that it was a translation mistake or a misunderstanding. So I don't really have an answer for your question. Probably go with the rabbit lol it's the original one.

As far as I know, the description for the cat is pretty much similar to that of the rabbit. It's one thing having two different names.

"Legends relating to the order of the Chinese zodiac often include stories as to why the cat was not included among the twelve. Because the Rat tricked the cat into missing the banquet with the Jade Emperor, the cat was not included and thus began the antipathy between cats and Rats. In reality, it is likely domesticated cats had not proliferated through China at the zodiac's induction."

You're trying to determine if he's a Dragon or not? Isn't it pretty easy to tell? If he's green with scales and a big snout, he's a dragon.

Then, to differentiate between Cats and Rabbits, here's a simple method: check the ears.

Long ears: Rabbit.
Small ears: Cat.
No ears: Possibly a Prairie Dog, but you might want to consult a professional.

Hiya Moonfish! Nice to see you again.

I agree, there does seem to be a resemblance between people born in Rabbit/Cat years.

For example:

I do that little smirk thing, too.

Rabbit gallery (continued)

^ See, it's this "No I'm not exactly comfortable, just dealing with the same old cr*p" face. Chelsea Handler does it well:

And of course, Nicholas Cage just gave up pretending he's okay:

Oops, this study wouldn't be complete without Brad Pitt!

^^ "I don't have heartburn, noooo...I'm just sensitive."

Just a few more years and he'll look like this Rabbit...

Hmm, if there's someone that reminds me of a rabbit in terms of appearance - that would be "Stephen King"

Kinda looks like a rabbit in human form - but, he was born in the year of the Pig. :)
