Progressions are your personal planets beginning the day you were born...the direction they were going that day, direct or retrograde, each year these planets move approximately a degree.
I could get more detailed because there's more involved, If you want the details ask.Transits are the planets as they are when you look up in the sky, day by day they change and move with time.
Progressions are based off our personal birth chart and our age, transits are the planets position at any given moment.
They are both important, I don't think one is more important than another one.
They both play off your natal chart and set things in motion in our personal lives.
If your progressed Venus is moving onto your sun this is potentially a good chance of falling in love but if transit Venus is passing through your 7th house, this also indicates potential for love!
