Can anyone explain this in simple terms? of course I've done my research, but I can't fully grasp the meaning of the terms until I can fully understand it. What's the difference between progressions and transits? Which one is more meaningful? Which one effects your life the most?IP: Logged |

They both do.Progressions are the Transits made in the early days of your life. One day equals one year of your life. Transits are what is going on in the sky right now, and how it mixes with you and the chart you were born under. IP: Logged |

"One day equals one year of your life"How is that possible? Also, which one is used at what time? I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but I'm just trying to figure out when do you pull each one? Like what are you looking for specifically when you pull your natal chart and transits vs. when you pull your natal chart and progressions? That's the aspect I'm not understanding. IP: Logged |

It is calculated to the minute. When I give you a Timeline, it has both on it. What I personally like to do is put up a Quad-Wheel that shows Natal, Transit, Progression and Solar Arc; and just study it for a bit. See what House has a predominance of activity going on. (Solar Arc is another method of Progression. That's the one that moves each Planet One Degree per year.) I have found both to be effective. If you just open an Ephemeris to the page with your birthdate, you can learn a lot about the basic progress of your life. I especially like to note Eclipses and Stationary Planets. It takes two seconds. IP: Logged |

The big picture is your life is a solar cycle (12 months). Nine months is spent in womb, three months is spent outside. Roughly speaking everyone should live to 90 - 92 years. So, when looking at a progressed chart we're looking at the position of the planets within those three months after birth. Depending on the age of reference, you'd count that many days from your birth. quote: Also, which one is used at what time?
Either can be used at any time. For starters look at your Progressed Moon. It is the fastest planet in your pChart, and tends to mark your life with these mini-epocs. For a richer understanding of the pChart I believe it's best to familiarize yourself with THE LUNATION CYCLE (New Moon, Full Moon, etc...). From here you will want to look at the relationship between your pSun & your pMoon.

One school of thought pit them as rivals, different ways of looking at the evolution of a life. Another school says they're complementary; progressions is said to show the internal development of a person - the psychological completion of that which started in the womb, while transits show the external/environmental factors a person will face. Either can be pulled up at anytime it all depends on which area of live you want to focus on. IP: Logged |

Mmm... more stuff to read up on - I love learning! ;oJust wanted to input, my birth date is May 20, so I'm on the cusp of Taurus-Gemini. Interestingly, in Numerology, my three cycles are: 5 - Gemini 2 - Cancer 8 - Leo It's interesting that each cycle in numerology follows my 3 corresponding Progressed Sun as it travels through my average 30 years of experience. Gemini relates to the desire for experience, freedom and the pull between spirit and matter. Cancer defines the 2 energy very well based on cooperation, balance, feelings, and harmony. I'm sure Leo will be great during the time when I can exude power, material wealth - maybe being an executive since I'm an entrepreneur?? Synchronicity at it's finest again. IP: Logged |

Transits and progressions aren't the most predictive techniques though. Primary Directions are what traditional astrologers used to predict events precisely.Otherwise, prediction is done very well in Hindu Astrology too. http://www.skyscript.co.uk/easy_directions.pdf IP: Logged |

No, it's not the same as Solar Arc. http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111024131536AAENgEN Transits do work but they aren't reliable. Sometimes you feel something or experience something and sometimes you don't. My question always is "Will this transit manifest anything?" Primary Directions would answer that for you. People don't use them much anymore because the calculations are difficult but with our software I'm sure they would be easier to do. IP: Logged |

ms Prism, have you ever tried making a composite of the transit chart and your natal for important events? I am usually stunned as how much more accurate and specific they often seem to be for me than a pure transit - natal comparision. IP: Logged |

Ms Prism,I was totally gobsmacked when i saw the composite for the time when mr Sag totally surprisingly approached me during a show of his, some years ago. The whole day and night had been weirdly intense, with a strange set of energies, and most of all my mind creating strange images. lol this was my composite with that event [/URL]
