Depending on the website my Sun is either in the 8th or 9th house.

I've read the descriptions and both have elements that apply.

My Sun is kinda like that too, its only 2 or 3 degrees away from being in the 9th house and a lot of sites will automatically interpret it as in the 9th, I think with most situations like this you can choose to interpret the planet as being in either one or both, personally I always go with the house its actually in
